Awesome, and welcome Fat Agnus! We look forward to meeting you!

Please bring a dish to pass if you can, as well as your own tableware.

That makes 17 people confirmed.

We also could use members with video cameras and audio recorders to show up. I have a feeling that they might come in handy.

GREAT! Welcome aboard! Pretty new to this crowd, myself. Glad you're getting involved! Just remember legalities of pistol transport of you're not a concealed carrier and plan on coming with firearms. Armed or not, it's always good to have more support! :D

Well, 30% chance of junk in the weather - everyone cross your fingers for a nice DRY Sunday! BTW, think I've already been confirmed as attending, and I've got 2 confirmed coming with me with the slight possibility of 1 or 2 more.

Okay We are still in need of some items for this:

Anyone who can bring a grill we need them!! We also need a couple people to bring some meat (like a pound or two of hamburger meat, or a couple pkgs of hotdogs or bratwurst)

Also for whoever is attending, it may be a good idea to bring outdoor chairs, there are picnic tables in the park, but they are spread out, so we will probably want chairs...

EVERYONE attending:

BYOBeverage:
FYI NO ALCOHOL, this is a no brainer as most of us will be carrying weapons, but I thought I would say it anyway.. also Kzoo has a city ordinance against drinking alcohol on public property and parks.

Bring your own table ware
Bring a dish to pass.
Bring your spouses/kids :) This is a family event, so if you have family, bring them :)
Bring your cameras!!! If you have a camera, especially video BRING THEM, we want to be able to post pictures and footage of this on this site, and since there will be media/law enforcement covering and aware of this event.

One question: Have we decided yet whether or not to do a march on Main St.?? If yes, we should have some pamphlets/cards available to hand out...as well as some posters to hold up for traffic.

Where'd this event go? It's not in the events thread anymore, as far as I can see.
It's back in there now just below the Heritage Park OC Picnic post. I PM'd Ziggy to let him know what happened.

Near as I can tell, a "march" is up in the air. I agree with the idea of "putting ourselves out there" but not so certain I want quite the amount of attention a march would bring. I'm all for the media & law enforcement, but the idea of a march is a little intimidating for some reason. I suppose if it happens, it happens,I'm just conveying that I'm not sure how comfortable I am with it. There's a first time for everything, I guess.

Also, I'd love some OC pamphlets. Is there someone who's got a stockpile of them, or do I need to pull up and print my own, or (?)

If a "march" does take place, I don't think anyone here would think less of you if you opted out. One thing I've learned here is that this is a group who, although having a common interest in promoting open carry and RKBA in general, they accept that everybody comes here with different levels of personal comfort, some being more vocal and some being more comfortable "testing the waters". I've observed that members who often are hesitant to OC in public in the beginning are often the most ardent and assertive members after spending time in the Forum and attending such events. Go to the event with the understanding that others will accept you as you are; just as we expect that we will be accepted as we are.
Carry on!

If anything happens, it'll be a stroll down the Kalamazoo Mall, perhaps a stop at a coffee shop or Irving's market for something to wet the whistle.

It's not like we'd go rank and file, straight lines, step-in-time. It'd be a group walk for a few blocks, and a stop here or there for something to drink.

My advice to anyone and everyone who is uncomfortable with OCing is don't do it! Going to events, and seeing what usually doesn't happen will build confidence for most people. Then, if that still doesn't make you comfortable, still don't do it!

OCing, especially daily, everywhere you go OCing, is not nearly for everyone. Especially in Michigan.

Thanks for all the input. In a little bit of defense, I have grown surprisingly comfortable with openly carrying here for the most part; "here" being primarily the Portage/Kzoo area. As someone put it, a "stroll" sounds splendid, and no, I wasn't imagining "steppin' in time" lol -however amarch doesdenote something a little more...unified (?) than a group of folksof a feather taking a walk.Think it's just the stigma that comes with the term. Anyway, it's a non-issue, no worries. I'm there!
