l. I have a scary feeling that talks will come up, relating to a very, scary sound that goes SNIP!
Do not be scared. There was no discomfort thirty years ago and it's likely that the procedure has gotten better. There have been no after effects.

Mailed: 2011-11-01, used two stamps
Training Requirement Used: Certificate from Oklahoma Self-Defense course
(had considered sending my DD214, but thought this might suffice)
Check Cashed: ___
Permit Received: ___

I'll be sitting on the porch all day tomorrow, biting my nails.

Well, got my rejection letter today. It said my Oklahoma SDA certificate was not adequate proof of training. I'm mailing it back again today and including my DD214 and a copy of my basic training graduation certificate. I hope that does it.

What was the date of the rejection letter? What is an "Oklahoma SDA certificate"?

Damn, sounds like I'm in your stack then. They cashed your check on the 8th and it took until the 19th to get it. Me, cashed on 9th, and still waiting. What's funny is people received theirs in the 8xxx range around the same day you received yours.

Note sure what the date was, my wife texted me about it.

Oklahoma SDA is what they call their "Self-Defense Act", or their concealed carry law. The certificate has the date that I took the class, the city I took it in and the name of the instructor. I don't know why it was insufficient, but I guess now I have to wait a few weeks longer.

Yup, it's already in the mail and on it's way to them again. Now I have to do something for my wife. We both took the same class when I was stationed in OK because we knew we were coming back here to a new CCW law. She's not military.

We're going to try to contact the instructor and see if he'd be willing to send us a revised certificate that offers up more information, per our DOJ's template.

That's the key. If the rejection letter was dated before 11/8, it has to have the # of hours, and a statement it meets WI training requirements. After 11/8, no such requirement.

It isn't required after 11/8. As I said, the key is the rejection letter date.

Just a letter of affidavid(sp) to go along the certificate will work just as well.

Here is what the DOJ requires for proof of training from a class like the one you took:

(a) The applicant’s name.
(b) The name of the firearms safety or training course.
(c) The date on which the applicant completed the firearms safety or training course.
(d) The name of the instructor who taught the firearms safety or training course to the applicant and the name of the agency or organization that certified the instructor.

This information is contained in the "model certificate" which is available from the DOJ Concealed Carry web site.
