The lady I talked to around noon was very pleasant but she sorta did make it sound as if they were not processing in the order they are received.

She told me they are sure to meet the 45 day deadline for all that are received before Dec 1.

Sounded like they are more worried about the 21days after Dec 1

And no, not business days, its calendar days.

Yup, I've been telling people who haven't mailed their app in yet, to wait until Dec. 1st., and get delivery confirmation no matter how much it costs. If you mail it tomorrow and they get it on friday, they have until mid January to process it. If you wait until 12/1, and they get it on 12/2, they only have until 12/22.

She said... "Once your check gets cashed your application goes in to a pile for background checks. Once the background check it complete it goes in to a pile for printing. Once printing is complete it goes in to a pile for mailing where everything is packaged. Finally from there it goes in to a pile to be taken to the post office."

Seeing as how there are so many piles, I don't think it makes much sense to compare your application processing with anyone else...<snip>

Sorry to hear about your disappointing conversation with the DOJ, Trip, but I just can't help myself. The woman you spoke with kept referring to "piles" and all I could think about is that "piles" is a term that refers to inflamed hemorrhoids....

Probably a different "pile" aka queue, for the re-submits. Did you send back the "rejection" letter with the rest of your stuff? Or simply add in the aff form and just mail it back?

Still waiting ...............................

and now I am concerned considering people who mailed on a date later than I did, from the same general area have already received their permission slip.
I think our "Mail Storage Facility" (it would be difficult to classify it as a real post office) gives everyone Tuesdays off. I have not received any mail on a tuesday for nearly a year now. Maybe we have a different driver on Tuesday, and they just dump everything into the woods and take the day off? who friggin knows, stranger things have happened.

Hag? Geezus! These DOJ employees aren't to blame for how their bosses set up the system. They are just doing the best they can with an impossible work load and a bunch of whiney-ass citizens nagging them. Lighten the f&*k up.

That was a tad harsh.

When I saw he mailed on the 7th I just had to checked to see if my money order that I mailed on the 8th had been cashed...It was cashed on the 21st! That means they have money from about 30,000 applicants now but issued permits are still only in the 10,000-11,000 range.

OK so to make this official ...

Maybe my choice of words was a bit too coarse and aggressive - I apologize for that - but the thought had to be expressed. In fact, I just got off the phone with a nice DOJ lady who, as soon as she answered the phone, I praised for the great job she and her fellow employees were doing. She was rendered speechless for a few moments but then said, "You've just made my day! But there are other people here who need to hear this... would you mind sending those thoughts to the department?" She thanked me for calling, we said our goodbyes, and I composed and sent my feelings in this letter:

Wisconsin Department of Justice
P.O. Box 7857
Madison, WI 53707-7857

Dear Department of Justice employees,

I am writing to tell you what a terrific job you are doing on the Concealed Carry licenses!

I understand you have been swamped with tens of thousands of applications, you have a limited work force, and a bunch of whiney citizens who want their licenses yesterday. You must combine speed and accuracy over long, repetitive hours every day.

With all that, you are processing an amazing amount of paper and computer entries and doing all the other many tasks that result in a citizen receiving their license in a timely fashion; and I want you to know that there are a lot of people in Wisconsin who really, really appreciate your dedication and hard work.

You are all heroes in our book! Since we can’t be there to congratulate you all in person, please turn to the person working next to you, look them in the eyes, shake their hand and say, “Great job! Keep up the good work!”

Sincerely and with much admiration,

XXX

I agree with you for the most part, but I'm afraid that if I came over to your place I would bronze statue of Don employees upon an altar.

I amabsolutlety impressed with their progress. If anyone remembers 4 months ago this was a huge task to get this system set up and running in 4 months.
