Is it ok to OC in the Bellingham Civic Athletic Complex without a Cpl.? Driving up from UP for sons track meet. GO CURTIS! Thurston County Sheriff dept has taken 64 days to process my renewal. Talked to them yesterday still havent done background check. Jokers.

I applied Feb 5 . Called to check end of March. Was told that Feb applications would be done on Fri April 1st. Went down yesterday , guy at counter Mr. "Dennis " had a attitude from get go. I told him the law , he snapped at me that he knew the law and that if i had continued reading, its 30 days AFTER background check. BS. Thanks ill be applying for Writ Monday am.

Concealed pistol license—Application—Fee—Renewal.

(1) The chief of police of a municipality or the sheriff of a county shall within thirty days after the filing of an application of any person, issue a license to such person to carry a pistol concealed on his or her person within this state for five years from date of issue, for the purposes of protection or while engaged in business, sport, or while traveling. However, if the applicant does not have a valid permanent Washington driver's license or Washington state identification card or has not been a resident of the state for the previous consecutive ninety days, the issuing authority shall have up to sixty days after the filing of the application to issue a license. The issuing authority shall not refuse to accept completed applications for concealed pistol licenses during regular business hours.
The applicant's constitutional right to bear arms shall not be denied, unless:

Officials and agencies—Immunity, writ of mandamus.

(2) An application may be made to a court of competent jurisdiction for a writ of mandamus:
(a) Directing an issuing agency to issue a concealed pistol license or alien firearm license wrongfully refused;
(b) Directing a law enforcement agency to approve an application to purchase wrongfully denied;
(c) Directing that erroneous information resulting either in the wrongful refusal to issue a concealed pistol license or alien firearm license or in the wrongful denial of a purchase application be corrected; or
(d) Directing a law enforcement agency to approve a dealer's license wrongfully denied.
The application for the writ may be made in the county in which the application for a concealed pistol license or alien firearm license or to purchase a pistol was made, or in Thurston county, at the discretion of the petitioner. A court shall provide an expedited hearing for an application brought under this subsection (2) for a writ of mandamus. A person granted a writ of mandamus under this subsection (2) shall be awarded reasonable attorneys' fees and costs.

This "attitude" thing bugs the dickens out of me. The law is on your side, I would go up the chain, bit at a time, chewing as I went. Piss me off, pay the consequences.

This was good. Another demonstration of Citizenship being a Verb.

The Moms against everything had two people show up, we showed with eight. A small, but vocal crowd, we forged ahead. The speaker had a bit of difficulty with her script , but did well. More tomorrow, after some sleep.

I was extremely confused and disappointed with the Moms Against Evil Guns presentation. Several times the phrase "we want to start a conversation" was used. For me, conversation means civil discourse, an exchange of ideas and opinions. I am a pro gun person very open to the persuasive argument that will disassociate me from the likes of crazy gun nuts like SVG and Freedom Man. In fact, I welcome the argument that will make me see the light.

Unfortunately, just wanting me to shut up if I disagree, or even question the information provided, is not an effective way to change my mind. I am ready to accept any logical anti-gun argument, if only it would be provided. The presenter, whom I found to be fairly condescending, refused to provide that argument. Her insistence that "we" would not change "their" minds, and vice versa, doesn't seem to be a willingness to open a productive dialog. It seems that her strategy is to relay inaccurate, or even false information, and if it is questioned, or even requested to be clarified, to refuse engagement. I do not think that we were pushy, overbearing, or even rude. From my perspective, we all tried to be as respectful as possible even in disagreement.

Ultimately, I believe that this group purposely appeals to the heart, while actively rejecting any counter, regardless of validity. I believe that this is not only ineffective, but actually counterproductive to their stated goal of violence reduction.
