I was in Goodwill with my Sweet Baboo today and I saw a very strange woman who seemed to be talking to herself. She seemed a bit odd, so I stepped back, and watched her as she went by. I seemed to pique her interest too as she passed. People are strange.

A bit later I was informed by Herself that the young strangeling was being tailed by management for shoplifting. After the strangelings interaction with me, I was told she abandoned her cart and exited the store. Unintended consequences.

I have been all over town with my Sweet Baboo the last week or so. No, absolutely no negative anything. That part is gone, except for the random Canadian. Open Carry just does not draw that much notice. Even when we had ten or so of us in one place, it was a non issue.

If you lurk here and you carry concealed and have been on the fence about open carry, try it,we are not the "Dark Side".

At Wal-mart very young asian boy mabye 4 to his partents..."He's got a gun"
Both parents looked at me with a questioning look in their face and said nothing the boy then said to me...."Why do you have a gun?"

I responded "Who will stop the bad guys if they come in to hurt us?" Understanding dawns on his face but then another look of confusion probably because I was in my work clothes. "Are you a police?" "Nope just a friend, if you keep doing what is right and don't do bad things, you too can do the same when you are older".

Mom then says with an accent "We need special license to own where we are from" I realized they live in Canada, although not originally, "Oh yes different set of rules there" I joked, Father chuckled and said "Yes way different set of rules".

At this point I could tell this wasn't a negative encounter but still was unsure on how productive it was.

The young lad then asks me "Why are your pants dirty?" "Oh because I just got off work and I don't always stay clean in my job".
The mother then tells her son "See, if you work hard and earn money you can afford to get a gun to protect your family" the father nods approvingly.
I mention "or stay in school so you don't have to get dirty like me"....Mother says something to the effect that school isn't as important as work or work ethic not sure.

The younger son (about 2) showed me his stuffed animal and gave me a high five. We said our well wishes and I went off feeling really good about my day and the encounter. After the week I had it really lifted my spirits and reminded me why I OC.

A great encounter. Things like this are restoratives for the heart.

My Sweet Baboo and I were out and about yesterday. We stopped and had lunch at a Greek place in the Sunset "mall" area. Good food , no worries from the staff as we were greeted and treated very well. I did scare a few people out of the place tho. Lori says as I got up to get napkins, a woman at the next table saw my pistol, gathered up her little family and left. My pistol wanted to jump out of the holster and start shooting everything but I was using a retention holster and it could not wiggle out.

That only counts if they left their food uneaten. Maybe they were simply done and in a hurry to get to their next stop.

Retention holsters are good, but might be wise to obedient train your pistol too.

Stopped by Lorenzos Mexican restaurant last night. Met with SVG his Sweety and Boomboy. had a great meal, good conversation and as usual, open carry was a normal act.

I bought a fully cut AR10 lower for a ridiculously low price, but I had to have it shipped to a local FFL. No worries, I sent it to a Pawn shop my Sweet Baboo frequent. I went in and, of course, got delayed. I got a proceed a few days later and went in to pick it up. My Sweet Baboo saw a pistol she liked as did I. Her nics took five minutes and I was delayed. I got a proceed on that one, went in to pick it up and I saw/bought an old WWII 9mm. I cannot pick it up yet, he has a set time to hold it before sale. What do you think my chances are of passing that nics next time??

I need an FFL to bypass this stuff, it's driving me batty

Another nics, another delay.

I was out and about with my Sweet Baboo yesterday. Stopped by Winco, got an attaboy for carrying. Most don't notice, those who do are happy. I love this place

Gutshot I appreciate your concern. I have contacted batf over and over on this. The root of the problem is my Union Thug cousin who uses the same name as me. He is involved in the teamsters newspaper distribution on the east coast. Batf has told me on more than one occasion that a U-Pin number would not stop the delays.
They have offered no advice. I may get a bit delayed but I always get my gun. Picked up my Armalite yesterday and saw a Cobray M10 with 9mm AND .45 bolts. It looks like I have another delay coming up

This would seem to be just proof to end all background checks then.

Out and about again with me Sweet Baboo. Had a felon mention his lack of Rights. I have seen him before. Same line, same disclaimer, same whine. Another, older gentleman moved by me and said, "Awful big gun you have there." I replied "Well I think it is a "pretty" big gun." He laughed and commented about what I had in my hand. "You could shoot 'em with the gun or hit 'em with the cast iron pan." he said. I just smiled and he went on.

I have been through the ringer to get my UPIN and it will stop the delays. When you put your UPIN on the 4473 and they call for the background check and inform NICS of your number, the rep. will kick it up to another level for review. This number is tied to your social and unless your cousin has the same social as you, you will not be delayed. This number retains your records and that you are cleared up to the date that you obtained this number. NICS will look at your criminal records from the date after you received your UPIN just in case you been naughty and are no longer eligible to purchase a firearm.

Success.....success

I was out and about with Herself because the weather is warm and the bikes were cold. Stopped by a favorite pawn shop and saw a .38 Llama revolver for a very low price. Did the nics and we were preparing to leave, expecting the usual delay, when the pawn shop guy knocks on the window........proceed!! You could have knocked me over with a bloody feather.

We went to La Conner Friday and strolled around town. Found a quaint little gun store called Doc Holliday's. Long story short, I bought a new rifle right before closing. After walking out the front door, I realized that we had parked a mile away. This was me walking BACK through downtown La Conner.

Out and about to pick up another pistol (Astra 600) from one of my favorite shops. Nics took a long time and was finally another delay. I don't know why I hang around for the results, I expect the delay.

Rest of the day was good. OCd all over the place, spent some good time with Boomboy (see redneck with assault rifle) and a little "wind time" on the bike.
