This is no Diff than one of my students who is under 18 and has several 1911's he competes with. They are registered to his dad and mother one each. And they are his in the sense that he and only he uses them. However due to the laws in this country and this state he has to have 2 one registered to each of his parents so that no matter which one can be at the competition he has at least one gun.

I have never heard him call them his parents gun... they are always referred to as his... now is this right or wrong?

I think you are making a far greater deal out of some of the things that the minor in question has posted then they warrant.

oh wait
THERE IS
crime proven
If he lives with his parents, then legally the firearm belongs to one of them until he reaches the age of 18. No crime.

so here i was, about a half hour ago actually.sleeping,as i usually to till 10am(it was just after 6)

i hear a noise at the door,so i grab my rifle and chamber a round.and proceed toward the frontdoor with the rifle shouldered, once i got to the front door i said dont move or your gonna get shot.turned out it was my sisters father,he yelled it was him.he doesnt live here and just got out of jail an hour or 2 beforehand and was just looking for a place to keep warm,i guess he'd been standing there for a good 10 minutes just standing there outsidewaiting for the others to wake up for the morning, but had just gotten too cold.

so yeah,6am,dark,snowy,dark dressed "bad guy" andmy rifle.
So because someone was outside of his door.
He threatened to shoot them.
Multiple situations to ponder.

#1
Police officer.
#2
Neighbor that hears that, runs away and calls the cops because someone threatened to shoot them.
#3
A animal that continues to make noise and gets shot because someone felt it was better to shoot first and ask questions later.

So you tell me Al

He seems to act like its his gun
he also seems to be ready to use it without knowing how to handle the situation
His parents (or legal guardians) bought the gun. Show me where he shot anyone.
Show me where I claimed he shot someone?
Did I?
Point is that is the WORST reaction to a situation.
Without seeing who is knocking( or pounding) and scaring you in your sleep
you get up and automatically threaten someone?
NO
You get up, arm yourself
and either
Take up a defensive position in the house with a good view on the door and ask who is there.
Take up a defensive position in the house with a good view on the door and call the police.
Or just arm yourself and go to the door and ask who is there and why are you pounding on the door.

Did his parents register it as a Michigan pistol?

If someone pounds on my door to the point of damaging the door frame, I'm going to shout a warning at them, absofrackinglutely.

And yes, they did. I know, I asked.

What if it is someone who was in an accident or injured that is in a panic?
scare them even more.
He did not keep his cool for that and handled it completely wrong

people in a panic, regardless of the reason can be extremely dangerous.

same thing as drunk people, they may be good people normally, but the fact that they are drunk can make them extremely dangerous.

if iwas pounding on your door hard enough to damage it,you'd do the same, possibly more.

Do not even attempt to try and tell me what I would do you arrogant child.
I know what I would do in that given situation.
I have woke up to people in my house and the first thing I did was remain calm.
It was pitch black and all i could see was a silhouette
I had my sidearm on me and it was drawn but I did not yell DON'T MOVE OR YOU'LL GET SHOT.
I requested for them to identify themselves and what they were doing in my house.
If i went by your trigger happy method my mothers boyfriend would be wounded or dead.
Turns out he had a key and was told to grab something but nobody knew he was coming.

When I was living in Lansing.
2:30am
BANGING ON DOORS
I wake up to it BANG BANG BANG.
My girlfriend at the time was in bed too.
AGAIN I did the SMART thing and remained calm.
Handed my .40 to her and had her kneel behind the bed.
I went to the door with my revolver in hand.
I did NOT act like an immature child who should not be anywhere around a firearm and immediately threaten to shoot them.
I asked through the door, "Who are you and why are you pounding on my door?"
Girl from the same building as me.
Her car was just broken into and she locked herself out of her apartment without her cell phone.
Its the middle of January and this girl is locked outside in her pajamas.
Her car was just broken into.
She had no phone on her to call the apartment managers building or the police department.
She was SCARED.
Had I gone the stupid way and threatened to shoot her she would be even more scarred.

Again
You are an arrogant child and how dare you tell me what I would do in a situation.
The fact of the matter is, you don't know me and not everyone is as excited as you are to shoot someone or have the opportunity to shoot someone.

You need to think before you act, speak and type.

Just wondering where you get the idea that you can personally attack someone, when one minute later you are seen to condemn someone else for a similar comment on the Durand thread.

-rant off.

How is that attacking a child that I decided was being arrogant?
Read his post it is as clear as day.
That's much different than you calling someone disgusting.

Any time a person uses age, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation or race to make a negative point about a person it is an attack.

Personal attack over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is a difference between calling a child a child and calling anyone disgusting.

18 years of age is the lawful age to possess a firearm without restrictions.

So that's my short answer.

+1.

I have an 18 year-old son and a 17 year-old daughter. They have both shot various pistols I own at a range.

While my son is old enough, he is not ready to carry and has stated such. I was ready to transfer one of my pistols to him, but he does not feel ready for it. He knows and practices the Firearm Safety Rules, but so far limits himself to airsoft, paintball, and a Savage .22 LR Rifle as arms he owns and uses. I recently picked-up a Browning Buckmark Camper .22 LR Pistol and will take him to the range to practice with it. It is my hope that he proves able to handle the responsibility of owning and carrying a self-protection firearm.

While my daughter is not old enough, she is very ready to carry and has stated such although I am encouraging that she waits until she is 18 (even with an airsoft pistol). I have discussed certain OC interactions in Warren and she was ready to OC an Airsoft Pistol when she was 16 as part of the group that met in Warren. We have been discussing what pistol she likes and so far it is my S&W M&P 9 Full Size. She knows and practices the Firearm Safety Rules, and has taught her boyfriend these. I will have no issue with her getting a pistol for her 18th birthday and Open Carrying it.

Sounds awesome! Just make sure she's WELL aware of where she's not able to carry.

If you'd like, print one of these out, cut it to size, and have it laminated at FedEx Kinko's for a buck:
