OC'ed in the Stafford DMV office this morning. MAN! Was that place crowded! The guard was on the door admitting people into the place as others were leaving. If no one left, then no one came in. Waited outside for about 20 minutes before I was allowed in. Seemed like one third of the customers were hispanic/latino.

Any how, no problems experienced there with my OC.
It matters to me as well.. "Seemed like one third of the customers were hispanic/latino".

We're losing our country and it's hard to imagine that there are some Americans who not only don't care but support the loss. But then again, this is a whole other topic not suited for this thread or this forum.

Supper at the Tasty Cafe in Springfield Plaza. A little Chinese place. Paper plates, plastic spoons, that sort of thing. Sadly, the OC was lost on them. Nobody noticed. There was no one in the store and the counter staff disappeared to look at something on a TV or computer in the back office once I was served.

The staff, when present, were very friendly. Serving size was acceptable. The food, though fresh, wasquite blandin flavor. For eight dollars, I would like to have had better. I shan't be returning.

Southernboy,
It matters to me also but this is anopen carry thread so I did not see how it mattered in that aspect. There is a time and a place for everything and as you already stated the topic is not suited for this thread or forum. Let's just let it die there, Kaiheitai17 thanks for the welcome to the forum.

If that's the one I think it is, I OC'd there once with no problems, other than a soccer mom trying to kill me with her minivan (not OC related).

I'm not white, am I part of the "losing of our country"? I found your comment confusing.
I could care less whether or not you're white as long as you are an American in good standing.

The "losing of our country" phrase I wrote relates to the loss I have seen in my lifetime of our culture, our history, our traditions, our heritage, and our core values to the angels of multiculturalism and diversity, the two most insidious and dangers concepts facing the future of our nation.

We have and are continuing to witness the balkanization of our country. Immigrants are coming here from all over the world and many are building little enclaves of their former lives right here in the USA. The most rabid movements are those from Latin America. Witness what has happened in the southwest, in Florida, Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, you name it. Witness radical groups such as La Raza who would love nothing better than to anex large sections of the southwest. Witness multi-language use in official documents, schools, restaurants, and even voice mail systems ("Press 1 for Engish or 2 for Spanish").

The commonality of a people is a nation's societal glue. What better way to destroy a country than to dilute its common purpose?

This was my message.

You got that right SouthernBoy. It's not about racism. It's about what makes a country great. Third world countries are third world countries for a reason. And that reason is NOT race. If you abide by the principles that made this country great I don't care who you are.

Born in the Land of Lincoln without a choice. A Southerner by the grace of God and my free will :^)!

Oops, I see I'm off topic. Uh, did you know that illegal aliens cannot open carry in Virginia :^)?

Ileave my gun holstered and only unholster if I'm pulled over.

I tried using a second clip holster attached to my seat belt to hold my gun while I drive but that was a hassle.

If you choose to unholster while driving Isuggest re holstering prior to opening your door and exiting the vehicle.

to help aleviate this thread from going down hill, I'd like to ask a question...

I've never OC'd before (well, outside of my own property  )

In VA I know that if you carry a gun inside a vehicle, it must be plainly visible (people say on the passenger seat for example).

My question is this:

When you're driving somewhere while OCing, and park to get out and go inside a store or mall for example, how do you go about holstering the gun? Or is the gun already at your side while driving?

This is the one thing I've always wondered and I'm sure there's a simple answer someone will give :)

Thanks :)
Actually, you may get lots of answers.

First, the plainly visible stricture only exists for those who don't have concealed handgun permits. If you have the permit, you are not bound by that.

I carry on my hip at all times. There are times I'm going in some place (like a Federal Government office) where I can't carry; I simply unholster in the parking lot and place the weapon in the safe. I may or may not remove the holster. I usually try to be discreet, but don't really care if someone sees, since I know I'm not doing anything wrong. The discreet part, frankly, is simply so I don't advertise that I'm leaving a firearm where a thief might want to try.

Best Buy for about half an hour on Rt. 1 in Potomac Yard. Not a second glance, no problems. Rocked out on Guitar Hero III for a couple songs, got my ass handed to me, and then left.

Sounds good.

Alright, folks. Back to the thread topic--Open Carry Experiences in NoVA.

Not trying to offend. Its just that this particular thread is more of a report thread than a discussion thread.

While grocery shopping these morning Ihad 3 people (1 woman , 2 men) give me the thumbs up while I strolled through Shoppers with my cart.

One of the guys stated "My wife won't let me get a CCW."
I told him you don't need a CHP to carry Openly ;), I handed him myyellow VCDLgun laws pocket card.

The other guy told me he occasionally OC's his Desert Eagle:shock:.
The Lady just smiled and gave me the thumbs up:celebrate.

This type of line always amuses me.

Same here. A friend of mine always tells me that his wife won't let him keep a gun in the house. She's afraid the 3YO will see it. Don't be shocked when I say they live in MD.

I usually ask him if he pays rent since he isn't an owner of the house.

There has to be something terribly wrong with a man who says something like, "My wife won't let me get a CCW". The word part of this that really bothers me is, "won't let me".
