i was gonna ask who was at the mason meijer the other day, my woman's parents saw it and made mention of it this morning to me...but im assuming it was big gay al since he said he recently went there.
Yeah, it was probably me. So far as I know, I think I'm the only OCer in Mason. At least I've not noticed anyone else yet. Didn't OC anywhere today. It was too hot for me, stayed home. If' I'd known about the Owosso thing earlier, I might have gone but, oh well. :)

OC'd @ Jimmy John's again on Westnedge yesterday, nothing said by anyone and was at least noticed by a few college-aged female customers. From there I went to Admiral gas station to fill up. When I pulled up to the pump and hopped out, I noticed a wide-eyed woman putting gas into her car, which had Illinois tags on the front. She finished, hopped into her car, and left. Then as I was exiting the store, I saw a fellow hop out of another car with Illinois tags. He noticed right away and kinda stopped in his tracks. I got in my vehicle, fumbled around for a minute, just situating my stuff, and noticed he was on his cell phone and eyeing my lic plate as I left. I had to laugh.

1) I love seeing Illinois peoples' reactions to OC. Always worth at least a smile.

2) If he was calling someone re: my OC, I find it ironic that he would be calling about my LEGAL activity, while he was ILLEGALLY using a cell phone while dispensing gas (I think it's against the law anyway....)

Open Carrying in California

I'm going to share a story as to why I moved from California.

This happened just before the 4th of July many years back.

A group of neighbors decided to have a get together for the 4th of July, and we decided to put on a mock shootout with black powder firearms.

We notified the sheriffs office as to our plans.

That in mind I will now share my story.

It was on a Saturday morning about 9 am. I went with a cup of coffee in my hand to my next door neighbors house to talk about the upcoming plans.

I had my 36 caliber pistol in the holster and unloaded, and my coffee cup in my hand.

I was standing there talking to my neighbor named Don when both of us turned our heads because we could hear a car coming down the road, and the carburetor was screaming and saying hey I am at full throttle.

We stand there and watch this Sheriff car go past, and slam on the brakes and slide around in a half circle.

One Sheriff jumps out and goes down on his knees on the passenger side behind the door, and has a colt Mark III trooper 357 pointed at me and cocked with his finger on the trigger.

The other exits on the drivers side, and walks over to me, and says --- Very carefully remove the gun from the holster ---

Now I am watching this guy pointing his 357 at me and I use my thumb, and first finger and I took the gun out touching only the end of the grips and had the barrel pointing to the ground.

I handed it to the officer and the other guy put his gun away.

Now you won't believe what he did! -- He pointed the barrel at his face and cocked the hammer!

He looks at me and says what is it. I told him --- if you will return it I will explain it and share anything he wants to know about it.

So now he hand it to me by the butt first, and still cocked and pointing at his chest.

I knocked out the wedge, removed the barrel, and laid the cylinder and all the parts on the fence next to me and explained all I could about it.

Now he proceeds to go into his macho mode telling me it is against the law to have an unloaded gun in the holster in the county.

That didn't go to well, so I corrected his lack of knowledge of the law

Well he was upset, and got in his car, and picked up the microphone and told them ---- Big Gun Fight Ha Ha --- and then they left.

So this is just one of the reasons that I have left Commiefornia.

I am now a concealed weapon instructor in Oklahoma.

I am for Open Carry here, I have always been for open carry, and having a badge does not impress me in anyway.

Sure there are good cops, and bad ones. However Bully cops can bite my butt.

I respect the law, and I respect those that enforce it proper. I don't have any respect for those that abuse others for their personal gratifications.

OCd at Cheddars in Lansing today with the wife and kids. I sat strong side in at the booth but wife wife said she saw the manager notice me on the way out. By that point we had already eaten and paid. Nothing was said. I have no idea if he cared or not.

At Auto-zone the manager commented on me "exercising my right to open carry". A couple customers commented but nothing sounded negative.

I have OCed at Chedders a few times without problems.

Duel carried today.

Carried TWO (unmentionables) at the Birmingham OC gathering. No crying children, screams of terror from women. The only issue was the guy in the Brooks Brothers suit who almost swallowed his fine "Cuban" looking cigar as 30 of us armed to the teeth, calmy walked past him down old woodward street. Price of parking = $4.00. Look on his face = PRICELESS :dude:

Walked to town with my wife and daughter for ice-cream in Grand Ledge. We sat down at a table to eat and I could hear the kids at the next table asking their parents in a loud whisper "is he a cop?" A couple minutes later I heard the dad tell one of the kids "you can ask him if you want." The dad ended up telling me his kids wanted to know if it was a Glock on my hip. I told him it was a Springfield and that I chose if over a Glock because I like the grip safety. We had a brief conversation and parted ways on a friendly note. I was afraid by the kids' first reactions that it was going to be a negative encounter but it turned out positive in the end. Good OC experience!

Hooters in Flint Twp. on Miller rd. Not any issue at all. 7-11 S. Saginaw and Maple rd. County sheriff was there while I was filling up but left before I went in. Not sure if he noticed. various service calls to peoples homes, no one has ever objected.

I passed my first year OCing, the last two weeks I had 2 flats tires carried into Discount tire, I had general carry questions. I might be bringing a guest to the OC dinner in Ann Arbor, time will tell. I need another 2 tires.

Also hit 2 different Meijers, 2 Krogers, Holiday's Restaurant, and DQ tonight. Nothing said, except a kid could not park his Buick, no one could get past him. Also did a lap around the Argo pond with my kid and the dog.

I took a friend to the carpenter road Kroger for a few things, she said "A lady about fell over when she saw my gun".

I don't typically post about every time I Open Carry in this thread -- I value my privacy and don't feel like posting a diary of every place I go...plus, my life is pretty boring.

That being said, I just got home from the Quality Dairy (Local Lansing business that runs a local chain of convenience stores that has pushed 7-eleven out of town -- sell frozen soda treats too). Anyhow, as I was approaching, I saw someone else walking out who was strapped (like me). We talked for a minute...good convo. He had a CPL too. I then walked into the store and did my business. Not every day you see 2 completely unrelated people Open Carrying in a small convenience store within 5 minutes.

About a week ago I was shopping at the Meijers on South Cedar/Pennsylvania in Lansing. While checking out I ran into "METL" who was, of course, open carrying!

I, too, live in a manufactured home community and have OC'd for the past two weeks after I was assaulted while walking my dog. I was informed by the manager today that it was not permissible to OC or carry w/ a CPL since it is "private" property. Is this true or is it BS?

--Dave

Tricky one. Look at your lease. See if your rent includes the use of the park in its entirety, or just the lot. Also, see if you cam get a copy of the park rules.

Hmm next time they come I'll make sure to have a visible gun. Hopefully they'll just leave.
