The thing that is bugging me is I mailed mine before 9am on the 1st, sent certified mail with return receipt. They were signed for "received at DOJ on the 3rd. Checks cleared my bank on the 10th. Yet, people who mailed after me, cleared check after me and so on have permits in hand.

I try to be a reasonable/rational person, but this crap doesn't add up. Yeah I know, government doesn't make sense, but WTF???

There, now I am done bitching for today...what really sucks is there is not a fu**ing thing I can do about it!

I'm in the same boat. I mailed as soon as the windows opened at my P.O. on the 1st. They cashed my check on the 14th. What pisses me off is some people who mailed on the 3rd already have it.

BTW... certified doesn't move any faster than regular 1st class... sometimes it's even slower because it must be scanned, and registered must be signed for. I was a rural carrier for USPS in the early 90s.

Oh, You People Are Going To Love This....

Mailed mine on the morning of the 1st, check POSTED on the 10th, still nothing.

Acquaintance of mine mailed hers on the 8TH and RECEIVED HER LICENSE YESTERDAY! Are you kidding me? She was in no hurry to get her license so she waited a week to mail it and she already has it.

Now I KNOW the D.O.J. are NOT processing "First in...first out".

Update...

Mailed: 11/4/11
Used: hunters education course
Paid: Credit Union "bank" check
Check Cashed:
Received:

Just checked the status of the check... "Issued"

Delivery confirmation on the letter of 11/7

I obviously missed my opportunity for a "quick" turn around. Oh well.

Mailed: 11/1/11
Used: MN CCW
RECEIVED AT DOJ: 11/2/11
Check Cashed: 11/14/11
Received: WTF, NOTHING!

With less than 8000 printed in 18 days, some of you are in for a very long wait.

They still havent completed the first batch of 10K that was reported to be received on 11/2.

They will not meet the 45 day requirement!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Luck of the draw.

Mine was at the post office by 8AM on the 1st.

Just noticed the tell-tale steeeeeeeenk from the mailbox when I got home today.

One thing that must be remembered is everything that was mailed on the 1st was received in random order on the 2nd or 3rd....maybe even 4th. I'm sure everything that went to that PO box was just dumped in a bin at the PO as the trucks arrived from around the state.

They don't get dumped in bins. They use trays like these for envelopes. The use bins for larger parcels.

My wife and my money order was cashed on the 15th. No license yet. A neighbor of ours has a friend working down at the DOJ and he said they were just dumping everything in bins. So it could be a long wait. Kinda sucks that the DOJ are not doing the right thing, but whats unusaul with that. The Doj keeps messing with us.

You mean the affirmation form saying it's not been revoked? You failed to send that? Seriously?

Two friends of mine mailed their apps at the same post office I mailed mine from, on the same day (the 1st) within minutes of me. All of our checks were cashed on the 14th. All of us used an out of state license as training, and one sent along an aacfi certificate also. Both of them got theirs on the 16th. License issue date for both was the 15th. Their numbers are less that 50 apart (between 6500 & 6600). Mine hasn't come yet. :(

I called the DOJ today. The female (not a lady at all) I spoke with gave me all the BS of "well there was Veterans day, and no mail Sunday and mail doesn't go out on the weekend". When I asked about people who had checks cashed after mine and received permit already, she said "I guess if you believe them"! Basicly all you who have checks cashed after me with permits are all lairs!!

Then I asked about first in, first out and she said "well be each grab a stack of 100 and work on them, so some might get processed sooner". I said you have had my money for 10 days and I do not have a permit. Then she said what she really wanted to say from the start...

"Well, we have 45 days to process your application, and NO BODY has reached that time! SO, if you don't like the way this is being done, file a complaint!"

I responded with "wow, thanks, have a nice day".

Looks like on December 18th I will have to go to Madison to find out what happen with our permits.

Are they opening the envelopes and pulling the checks out before the "big bin dump"? If not, that doesn't explain why some people get issued the day after check is cashed, and others wait a week or more after check is cashed before license gets issued.

All I know is I've already waited 3 days longer (+ allowing 2 days for mailing) than it took to get my MN license, and I'm still waiting... my check was cashed 5 days ago, I bought a new pistol a month ago, and sailed right through the background check... as usual. Never been delayed in 23 gun purchases (10 handguns) since NICS started. So what gives?

I stole this from Paul and edited it abit.

1. Mail is received and staged by date received or dumped into a big bin
2. Mail is opened and reviewed for basic completeness (no background check at this point, just that proof of training is included (and qualifies), all forms signed, none of the Y or N filed out incorrectly, etc. )
3. If # 2 fails, they return it to the application with the payment.
4. If # 2 passes, the payemnt is deposited
5. Application is given to the DOJ-CIB for a background check and is place inque(not a big bin)
6. Application actually keyed into system and background check is run
7. If passed, queued for printing and mailing
8. If not passed, fee forfeited and rejection letter issued.
