No other verdict was possible.

As I have said from the get, for him to be convicted, the prosecution was required to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the shooting was NOT self-defense. Not only did they fail in that, but the facts proved self-defense.

The media are crestfallen.

Clearly a good day for the right to defend ones self against possible dead.

Let's pray that we are never faced with this situation.

God bless both there families.

ABC is playing it like a tragedy.

Laughable.

CBS and NBC are portraying this as a technical verdict, not that Z is innocent, but just found not guilty. The kept talking up how the defense was asking for reasonable doubt. The closing I heard asked for an "innocent" verdict, knowing that it was not possible and that they would have to settle for "not guilty."

Pathetic.

I see a huge civil case coming against Mr.Zimmerman.

CCJ

If Florida's self-defense law is anything like Alabama's, a civil suit is not possible. The acquittal on the grounds of self-defense would be an absolute roadblock to the civil suit.

Happening now: ABC is promoting racial tension over this verdict.

Well, looks like it's ok to follow, harrass and kill people who have commited no crime. I can no longer be alone in public where anyone might see and kill me for sport.

I look at it from the other perspective.....I can now chase kids through the neighborhood with my gun, trap them in a dark alley and shoot them. After I call 9-11 of course.

Not guilty. The system worked as designed. Pray (Hope) for passions to remain calm.

If the system had worked as designed, political concerns would never have forced the judicial system to rake Z over the coals. There was no case. There was a futile racially-motivated witch-hunt. There was no justice for Z, just less injustice than some wanted.

I was fearful that, while that's the way its supposed to be, it might not have ended up that way. Miscarriages of justice have certainly occurred in our court systems. Not trying to be argumentative, just saying I did not have much faith in our court system or necessarily the general public to provide us with a good jury. Thankfully I believe the right, or at least a good verdict was reached

I totally agree with your post above /\

I agree with you 100%, this case should never have been allowed to go forward in the first place. However, it did, wisdom prevailed, and the correct verdict delivered. This does not negate my desire for calm in the aftermath of what many will see as an injustice. No quibbling implied.

I turned on MSNBC for entertainment value, to taste their tears.

I'm scared and shocked at what I'm watching.

These people are living in an alternate reality. The hatred, racism, and profound ignorance of the people on MSNBC is out of a Twilight Zone episode.
