No "attaboy," just a "you scared me there for a minute."

Yes, he ultimately corrected his mistake, but still, he opened the door for some more obamacare shenanigans. This could have gotten out of control, and his no votes could have been to no avail. He should have never voted to allow debate to even begin!

I hope the Bill is debated; I hope the Bill is passed.

I know this can be difficult for partisan types to understand, but cloture is the *end* of debate. Remember that.

You hoped it passed? Sounds like party over rights. I'm glad it didn't because I actually oppose useless restrictions on the rights of law-abiding citizens.

That being the case, it is hardly correct to call all of these traitors to our cause.

An example would be Sen. Warner from Va. who voted "Nay" straight down the line. He deserves an "atta-boy" for listening to the voters from his state.

Sen. Timmy Kaine not so much a good listener - in fact I'm told he turns off his voice mail when he leaves for the day. :(
I thought Warner voted YES for the Manchin-Toomey amendment itself, but NO for the other proposed amendments.

Did he change his vote after it was originally recorded? Where is this documented?

Thanks,

TFred

Just out of curiosity, how many of your online sales were intrastate?

I'm not really trying to defend this, only that I don't think it will actually change very much in practice. To be totally objective, you act as though this is a prohibition on online sales, when it merely requires you to go through an FFL, which it seems to me most do anyway, using gunbroker and the like and selling interstate.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, though. Maybe private party selling intrastate online is a common practice.

Armslist.com! This is where I sell every gun I have for sell.

The only prohibition regarding the private sale of firearms across state lines is the prohibition on handguns. There are no prohibitions regarding a private transfer of a long-gun across state lines, unless it is at the state level.

Regardless of prohibitions, I advertise all of my firearms on this web-site, I get e-mails from interested individuals, and we meet and exchange money for gun. Very basic and easy. Take away our ability to advertise our firearms on the Internet, and the Federal Government pretty much takes over private transfers.

This bill WOULD have made it so that any gun that was advertised on the Internet would have to be sold through an FFL, and that is bogus! I'm glad it is finished ... for now.

It's good that there are so many of us with so many different approaches to firearms ownership. At least, so long as we each elect to defend those other approaches, they'll find it very hard to get much past us.

I'm glad the complacency of the 20th century is dead and gone. Just in time, too...

And let's not forget this is a concealed carry push, another slap to open carry.

Alan G has always been anti-OC and pro P4P, but this was over the top. He threw us under the bus. Ouch! it didn't feel good!

Constitutional carry is the only answer.

not to mention any advertisement in any public newspaper or magazine would also be illegal.

McCain sure ly amazed me. I thought of him as a real patriot. silly me.

McCain was a loyal and tough warrior, however, he has been more progressive than conservative and not loyal to the freedoms we were founded to protect.

What would Alan M Dershowitz say about left wing liberals?

“Foolish liberals who are trying to read the Second Amendment out of the Constitution by claiming it's not an individual right or that it's too much of a public safety hazard, don't see the danger in the big picture. They're courting disaster by encouraging others to use the same means to eliminate portions of the Constitution they don't like.”

Alan M. Dershowitz

And Edward Abbey, "Postcards from Ed: Dispatches and Salvos from an American Iconoclast", said what I think about a lot.

“When guns are outlawed, only the Government will have guns. The Government - and a few outlaws. If that happens, you can count me among the outlaws.”

Then I have always been able to find some degree of humor in work-a-day doings of my fellow Americans.

Said Jarod Kintz:

“I want to put silencers on all guns. That way war will be nothing more than a whisper in the future. And all those who are caught whispering will be shot.”

And speaking about left wing liberals and others who think gun control is the answer I like something Albert Einstein said, and the man who came up with the theory of relativity might know what he's talking about:

“The difference between genius and stupidity is; genius has its limits.”

The way I see it we'd have two sets of outlaws having guns, I am way more leery of the outlaw state than an individual outlaw.
