UPDATE>>UPDATE

A valid point has been made by M1Gunnr.
Those attending who are 18 years of age and older, and legal to own a firearm WILL be able to participate in the drawing for the pistol (1911 Rock Island, Midsize) BUT all State and Federal laws will be followed.

So who is bringing what as far as food?

I'm a competent cook,

I have some ham hocks, I can make baked beans slow cook style, or I can make black bean casserole, or I can make green bean casserole, or I can boil corn and bring it in my military thermal case, or I can make macaroni salad, these are my "specialities" I can also bring a pack of buns or something, but just if everyone who plans to bring something can sound off please so I can make something different or coordinate with other people

* ALSO

I just now discovered a sealed tin of Yuban coffee in the back of my pantry, as in a big sealed tin, It's within date and tastes fine, for yuban that is. no one in the fam wants it, no way i'll drink that much any time soon, so a large tin of coffee is ours for the taking.

So I will be willing to make coffee and set it up for everyone, free of charge, I just need one of those large serving urns with a spout to set it up and leave it for people to serve themselves, if anyone has one of them they're willing to bring or if I can beg or borrow one I most certainly will take on setting up coffee for everyone.

I actually have a rare Saturday off. Not sure what the drive would be like from Orting but I will really try to make this event.

I am thinking about making some easy cobbler in a dutch oven either before or after I am done cooking meat on my grill.

I will have a volcano stove with me complete with legs and a propane adapter.

I am willing to share use of it with someone if they are not cooking too much meat.

Just so everyone knows if I win the gun this year I will donate it to a young man I know that recently got married. I believe he should have the tools to defend his new bride.:)

Hey Trigger Dr, you said a CPL is required but that 18 to 20 will be allowed to enter.

what documents should I anticipate bringing if I want to enter?

Eric, There has been a change made. If a person is between the ages of 18 and 20 and is legally ably to posses a handgun, they can enter and be eligible to win also. All state and federal laws will apply.
Proof of age

The park website won't load:

So are dogs allowed at the park and at this event? My wife is up for attending, but she wants to bring our toy poodle (ulti-masculine dog for the win!).

Also, I just put in for my CPL at Edmonds PD on the 3rd. Very unlikely it will show up in time for me to enter the raffle :( Oh well, it'll still be a fun time.

I have a Weber One-Touch kettle grill I can bring. We were going to sell it on Craig's List because we don't feel like keeping it inside the apartment for the next 6-12 months until we buy a house. The one caveat to me bringing it is this: it has to go home with someone who isn't me. The grill is the 22.5" Gold model (with the ash pan), but it's about three years old and doesn't have a thermometer. It's blue and includes the starter chimney. If there's interest from multiple people, I'm willing to entertain ideas for who wins :)

Draw straws, play horse shoes, cook off, get creative. I look forward to meeting you and many others there on Saturday.

Dogs are allowed in Kitsap County parks, must be leashed and not allowed to run "at large" in the park. they are technically not allowed on any athletic fields, playgrounds, or picnic areas per the KCC, but being realistic this is never enforced unless they're making a problem. there's waste diposal bags at the park, pick up after your animal and keep it on a lead and no one will care. I'll probably be brining my dog as well.

as far as the grill, I ain't payin for one, but if you absolutely need it, I will kindly sacrifice my time and effort to remove off your hands for you, since I'm such a nice guy ;)

there's also a goodwill down the road if you absolutely have to offload it...

I'll have a dutch oven, you could bring another and slow cook on it. Sorry no coffee urn though.

I need to find another big stainless steel pot and build a camp kettle.

what do you need a camp kettle for? there is no actual campfire pit in the park?

I'm pretty sure I won't need any help... I'll be just fine on tools and ingredients i'm sure, the only thing I'm missing is a coffee urn...

I'll need to see if there's an electrical outlet nearby that I can run an entension cord too, otherwise i'll need to use my mr coffee machine and use a power inverter run out of my car motor

(i'm just the regular macgyver, well a pro-gun Macgyver I should say)

Maybe I am using the wrong name, but it's a charcoal powered hot water maker that you can use to make drip coffee with. I take some copper tubing and braze it on to the side of a tall SS pot. The copper tubing is coiled and a can is put around the coils and a piece of hardware cloth is used to hold the charcoal until it turns to ash.

There is more detail to it but, if anyone wants to build one I would be willing to give them more detail or they already know what it is.
