Really?
You cringe?
Even after you have triple checked and there is no way there is a round in the chamber?
To say that you cringe under these circumstancesseems like a bit of an exaggeration. At least, I hope it is...
Good God! Do we need to berate our fellow man for having a very human response. We aren't all loaded up with testosterone and merc blood. I don't feel like we all have to snap the actions on our semi-autos as if we were submitting them for inspection in boot camp. I don't want creases in my boxers. Remember the colonial malitia? They hid behind trees and did whatever they had to to stay alive. Untrained they were effective at running off the red coats. I just want to protect my family from goblins at the gas station or burger joint.

I have cringed myself when I am field stripping my Taurus in a place where there are others around... for the same reason. At home I have a clearing bucket filled with sand that I can point it into ... but at the indoor range...

Anyway I think if we could hear springfield smitty in person it may not sound so harsh... it's hard to convey feeling and tone on here!

I understand. My wife is not a pro shooter either and she cringes on the firing line every time. She can't hit crap at ten feet but if you have your hands on her or one of our kids she'll bite your face while she's emptying a clip into your belly. Its about survival not phonetic etiquette.

Thanks Autosurgeon. It is indeed hard to convey "tone" online. I try with bold face, italics, quotes, and other means, but it still seems to get misinterpreted along the way.

I am indeed a vet and a combat-hardened one at that. I no longer crease my boxers, but I do still organize my socks and t-shirts in a very particular manner. lol

Anyway, I know not everyone served and that many are not as comfortable with firearms as I may be. Sorry if I seemed to be belittling anyone. Those were not my intentions...:?

It's mostly that way with people around or when I'm not at home and have to field-disassemble my weapon.

At home, alone, it's not so bad. But yes, I have, and will likely continue, to get a little unnerved every time I have to pull the trigger around others - not at a bullseye at a range.

It's nice to be appreciated. Thank you for your service to the vets. I know they will appreciate it, but to let you all in on something, it is a little embarrassing when people thank us. I don't know why, and maybe it's just me. I guess I shouldn't speak for everyone, but I do get goose bumps when people say thank you, so thank you for appreciating what we did / do, but I don't feel like anyone owes me anything (including thanks) but it does feel good after the initial embarrassment. I'm rambling so I'll shu up now. I don't know how to say this stuff sometimes. sorry...

Well I went to court today for the AD. I was found not guilty by a jury. So I say to all you turncoat fuckers that wanted to talk shit about something you knew nothing about and accusing me of being guilty, **** off and go to hell. I thought this orginazation was about helping fellow gun owners and desensitizing the public on the presence of guns. But obviously there are only a select few that dont believe everything they read in the paper and wait to hear the verdict before passing judgement.

Dude, when a gun goes off at an MOC sponsored event, the damage is done the day after, when it's reported in the papers and on TV.

Do you think they're going to run the story about you being not guilty?

That said, I'm glad you got off - A life lesson learned without jailtime, just a lawyer bill.

1. ALWAYS keep the gun pointed in a safe direction.

2. ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.

3. ALWAYS keep the gun unloaded until ready to use.

I'm glad they tried to get you for something you didn't do and you were found not guilty.

Did you learn anything?

and I gotta ask.....did you pull the trigger on a live round or was it some bizarre malfunction of the gun?

Basic firearm operation dictates that the striker has to hit the primer to cause it to fire... wanna guess what happens that makes the striker or hammer go towards the primer? :?
