The driver was charged with reckless operation of an automobile.
The cop should be charged with reckless operation of a firearm.
BTW, unless the firearm somehow went off without the officer having pulled the trigger, this was a negligent, not an accidental, discharge. I hope that there is, and that Butler Township releases, body-cam video.

The accidental discharge of an officer's service weapon is under review. The incident happened after a Butler Twp. officer was trying to take a driver into custody.
