The driver was charged with reckless operation of an automobile.

The cop should be charged with reckless operation of a firearm.


BTW, unless the firearm somehow went off without the officer having pulled the trigger, this was a negligent, not an accidental, discharge. I hope that there is, and that Butler Township releases, body-cam video.

The officer is very lucky no one was injured or killed.

What he receives for punishment could vary a lot.

I would bet he will watch his finger placement a lot more from now on.
