Seattle PD officers are no longer allowed to use the word "suspect" when writing up their reports. Instead, they are required to substitute the phrase "community member" in its place. So, last month, it was a "community member" that shot three officers, and the "community member" was fatally shot by officers in return.
Similarly, the Dept. of Corrections has instructed CO's to use the words "individual, student or patient" in place of the words "inmate or offender." This includes serial killer Gary Ridgway, who has claimed he took the lives of 71 people.
To paraphrase the Bard, a pile of s*** by any other name would smell just as bad.
