Seattle PD officers are no longer allowed to use the word "suspect" when writing up their reports. Instead, they are required to substitute the phrase "community member" in its place. So, last month, it was a "community member" that shot three officers, and the "community member" was fatally shot by officers in return.

Similarly, the Dept. of Corrections has instructed CO's to use the words "individual, student or patient" in place of the words "inmate or offender." This includes serial killer Gary Ridgway, who has claimed he took the lives of 71 people.

To paraphrase the Bard, a pile of s*** by any other name would smell just as bad.

I see no problem with the term "community member", however when our community member is convicted, said community member is now an " inmate". or ward of the State or Ward of the Federal government..

I have never been able to comprehend how whitewashing evil improves society.

It doesn't it destroys the society that is the goal of the democrats/progressives communists they love anarchy thinking they well pick up the pieces and form a better government with them in charge.

A city council in an unnamed city on the left coast banned the use of the term, "Mail man". They decided it should be "Mail Person", but then decided that was still not politically correct and slid into "Person Person" as the PC title. We won't even get into what that same city council did to "Manhole cover"!!

If he/she/it is law-abiding, then he/she/it is a "community member." If he/she/it is suspected of a crime, then he/she/it is rightfully a suspect or "person of interest." When they are arrested, they are definitely a suspect because there is sufficient evidence to support that arrest. When he/she/it is convicted and incarcerated, then he/she/it can be entitled "convict" or "felon" as the case may be.

And, yes, the second paragraph was written with tongue firmly in cheek.

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

I found Ferdinand Tönnies' Community and Civil Society (Cambridge, 2001) good guidance. His community features traditional roles and requirements, while a Civil Society is a society of contract and statute. That may be made clear in the 1887 title in German, Gemeinschaft und Geshellschaft.

Be not deceived- that is, in regard to your character, and your hopes for eternity-- this is a formula of introduction to some admonition that is especially weighty and important. It implies that their was a danger that they would be deceived in reference, in, "their character'. The source of the danger were the corruption of their hearts, the difficulty of knowing their "true character", the instructions of false teachers, etc..

Think false teachers..
