Coming from a newb

And you've been around for less then 2 months and you think you frickin know me?

You got a lot of learning to do boy.

I've been here fighting in the trenches for 2 years now, taking heat fromanti-OCer so hot it would make a thin skinned wussy like some of the younger members here cry.

Most of the people here complaining and crying about the "old guard" nowadays are all reaping the benefits of the work of our older members, riding the coat-tails if you will.

You need to read more and post less, frickin newb.

Respect, I neither desire nor require it from you but you really should try to read most of my 1800+ posts and you might have a clue about me.

Wow this thread got out of control.

I'm probably in the younger group when it comes to OCers. That said, I'd like to think I'm pretty mature. I carry myself in a very professional way, probably because I've been working in office/professional environments since I was 21 and have just gotten used to thinking that way while my cohorts age-wise are playing beer pong and going to clubs. I instead got married, settled down, bought a house, pay my own bills and work my butt off.

I for one will always be found dressed very nicely and professionally because that is my normal attire. It's just how I am. I also personally believe it's a good way to project a positive image of OCers in society. Do I havea problem with less attire on other OCers? No. It's just not for me.

Wow talk about out of control, I am of the "younger generation" and I must say I take a lot of what I have read today as a personal assault directly twords me and my fellow youngins..

Think I will take a break from MOC for a while, maybe when I come back OC will be the issue at hand, not clothingor age.

Hey, don't feel bad. I fall into the "older generation" and have been labeled as a "goof." :) And, to add insult to injury, I've been unemployed for two years. Therefore, I'mlabeled the lazy, useless, welfare sucking schmuck with no plans/intentions toseek employment--never mind the fact that I've been working for more years then most on here are old. :p

I apologize for my bad manner here, having not read all the new postings, but...

I have to disagree. Would you refuse treatment from Dougie Houser MD? I know corny reference, my apologies.

Anyway, I would fully support and underage individual coordinating an event. So long as they are not violating possession laws, I see nothing wrong with it. Am I missing something here?

Sometimes I feel like wearing jeans, boots, and a button down.

Sometimes it's a random band t-shirt, tennis shoes, and jeans.

Sometimes it's an HK t-shirt, khakis, and boots.

All depends on my mood. :)

I try to always be clean shaven at least. No scruff.

Frankly, the immaturity displayed in this thread seems to be coming from both sides of the fence. Without prior knowledge, It would be difficult to establish the age of most who are participating in the argument. Obviously, I'm not referring to everyone who's posted, but I should think that you know who you are. Do take this with a grain of salt though, as I am only 26 years old.

As for the topic at hand, I agree with Venator that a general dress code for OC'ing in public is a slippery slope. For a group of individuals adamant about exercising and preserving certain individual liberties to propose the restriction of others seems almost hypocritical.

I do not think though, that this was Ziggity's intention when he started this thread. I could not ascertain anywhere from his post that a certain, strict dress code for anyone OC'ing in public, at any time, should be implemented. Surely, "presentable to the public" can be quite relative. Is wearing a t-shirt, jeans, ball cap, and tennis shoes while OC'ing at Wal-Mart conceivably "presentable to the public"? How about the same attire at a court hearing or press conference?

That being said, dress codes exist in all societies, though unwritten as they may be. How you present, carry, and handle yourself in public or in business is very consequential, whether you like it or not. I don't think I need to remind anyone of the significance of first impressions.

As for MOC, Inc., they have the right to choose who they do and do not affiliate themselves with. If they ask for a certain type of dress at one of their officially sanctioned events, and you hope to associate with them, my advice would be to honor their wishes.

I think that it's good that the children are stepping up and taking control of MOC.

At least they can't carry guns and go struttin' their stuff around like cowboys.

So...

Brown holster with black shoes? I recently purhcased a set of brownish red holster and mag pouch, to match my belt and leather hat.

Now i wonder if i need a black belt and holster to match my shoes and jacket? Or would matching belt/hat/holster/shoes be to much?

Decisions decisions...:monkey

My 1911 is often carried in a brown shoulder while riding my black motorcycle, with my black jacket, black shoes, and black pants. Gasp.
