The Springfield Police Department says it responded to a potential threat at the Walmart Neighborhood Market on Republic Rd. near Golden Avenue, Thursday afternoon.

The Springfield Police Department arrived on scene within three minutes of the call. Police stated that a young white male, appearing to be in his twenties, pulled up to the Walmart, where he donned body armor and military fatigues. Police say the man had tactical weapons. ..."

What an absolute moron - any time, and doubly so in the wake of El Paso and Dayton.

P.S. - other, better pictures I've seen appear to show his firearm to be a braced pistol - iow, an AR-15 pistol. Regardless, he's still a moron and worse.

The part that stands out to me is that the report talks about video surveillance of him and what he did outside and inside. Yet I've not seen or heard anything about the El Paso shooter. Has anyone seen the police report for El Paso? I'd like to compare.

Also, as dumb as this was (not anti-2A audit, just timing and location was iffy), the reason why this has not hit the mainstream media is not because he wasn't a shooter...you think they'd miss an opportunity to use this as a reason for not carrying a loaded weapon or owning AR15? Nah...it was because a good guy with a gun (also dumb because there was no law being broken) stopped him and led to his arrest. With no shots being fired. Not the narrative they want to publish.

Don't you think there's a slight difference between the two cases?

In Springfield, some knucklehead scared some people but harmed no one. Criminal charges are relatively minor.

In El Paso, police and the DA are building a major case where 22 people were murdered.

Don't you think that the active major felony investigation might hold evidence a little closer to the vest until trial time?

In another forum, I read the relevant MO statutes. The only section that could possibly apply requires mens rea, and the report makes it clear that he had no intention to cause alarm.

He caused alarm by being a dumbass, not because he intended to scare people.
