Guns and shovels? That would make for a very interesting roadside conversation with a LEO during a search.
Who'd let a LEO search?

Can't we all be adults and learn to use the ignore feature?
I always looked at the ignore feature as a little childish.

I am fortunate that the pit is practically in my backyard. I was just there yesterday. I will try to make it to the shoot in November. Choosing a weekday was very smart, as the PIT is near insanity on weekends that close to hunting season.
May i request that each person who comes please bring at least one large trash bag, fill it with garbage from the pit, and take it home with you. Although there is often a pile of garbage near the entrance to the pit, there is no garbage pickup at this location.
I've been to the PIT many many times, and yesterday is the worse i've ever seen it.
here is a video i took yesterday also.

In the top photo it looks like someone threw out a perfectly good female human. Shame really.
Dang it!
Shall all us Southern Gents, carpool? :monkey:
I am so looking forward to attending this shoot out with you.
I'm thinking the same thing. I usually am able to get out to the other side of the state at least a few times during the summer; this summer I was involved in too many things to do that... and I just noticed last week that I have way too many personal business hours at work to let something this momentous go by.
This event is NON OFFICIAL, it claims no ties to neither OCDO, nor MOC INC, there names are mentioned only as to invite there forum members to this NON OFFICIAL event. This is also NOT a family event. It is NOT suggest to bring children to this event, although while perfectly legal for children to use firearms at a shooting range, there is expected to be many people attending this UNOFFICIAL event, where firearms will be un-holstered and fired on an active range. To limit the odds of an accident it is HIGHLY suggest that NO children attend this UNOFFICIAL event. Also ALL LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO EACH AND EVERY PERSON WHO ATTENDS THIS UNOFFICIAL EVENT. NO LIABILITY will fall unto OCDO, or MOC INC. in anyway, or any other poster in this or any other thread on the subject, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOURSELF! YOU MUST FOLLOW ALL FIREARM SAFETY RULES AT ALL TIMES!
1.) Always keep ALL firearms pointed in a safe direction.
2.) Always keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.
3.) Always keep the firearm unloaded until ready to use.
4.) Know your target and what is beyond.
5.) Know how to use the firearm your shooting safely.
6.) Check and make sure the ammo you are using is the correct ammo for the firearm you are loading/firing.
7.) Wear ear and eye protection when firing, and warn others before firing to do so.
8.) Never use drugs or alcohol while firing/handling firearms.
9.) ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS call "cease fire", and confirm with everyone at the range, before entering the range to change targets/clean/or for any other reason. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS check the range and make sure NOBODY is on the range, and call "live range", and confirm with everyone at the range before firing.
Please do not bother coming to this NON OFFICIAL event, if you do not agree with these safety rules. They are not just for others protection but your own. It is imperative, that everyone that comes agrees, so everyone that attends has a good time!
if you "seize fire" you may get burned. i always recommend wearing gloves while handling fire.
The Pit is normally a great place to take your kids shooting. 02 November 2011 from 10am to 3pm will not be one of those times, as there will be many people not only shooting but socializing. If this was purely a shooting or purely a socializing event, It may be a good time to bring the children, but its not. Because there may be times when no one is shooting and the range is "clear", and everyone is standing around talking, or instructing, or showing off there latest "toy", we don't want children to become bored or impatient and do the unthinkable. I understand the chances of this is very very low, and I understand that if you are an OCer that your children more than likely know firearm safety, and know NOT TO TOUCH, but children are slightly more likely to have an accident or become impatient than an adult.
If you want to take your child shooting, I have no problem what so ever with taking them to The Pit, put I respectfully ask that you do not do it on the date listed at the time listed. Please respect these wishes. Thank You!
On the off chance of that happening, I'm sure they will keep to themselves. If they are close enough for it to be a possible issue we can respectfully request that the adult keep their children away from our uncased firearms.
lol, seconded.
It's better then throwing mud back and forth like to kids in a sandbox.
What? This is a joke, right?
Seriously?
I do my BEST to keep my child NEAR uncased firearms whenever possible! Seriously. If I am at a shoot, so is he. If he is willing, he is participating! Why you would want it any other way is beyond me. Anyone bringing family members to such an event is responsible for them.
So, people attending the event have children that are considered some "random stranger's children?"I feel I should point out that this was directed at keeping some random stranger's children away from, read it again, our uncased firearms. I know I don't want some random kids I don't know poking around my guns... just saying, this wasn't relevant.
Evil Creamsicle said:Anyway, I'll try and make it, Its been awhile since I've been to the pit. I'll try and bring a new friend of mine who is just getting interested in OC... :-D

I attend organized events where children are present. I never consider them to be some "random stranger's children."

No, the original comment was directed exactly at those people here who would choose to participate. I can see no other way to view the statements of the op.Again, you seem to be lacking the proper literary skills required for investigative reading.
The original comment was a response to a question about people who were unaware of the event showing up during the event, as it is public property. I'm not responding to your other argument-provoking childishness, as I have not provided my opinion on the subject one way or another. I was merely pointing out that you had taken another poster's comment out of context.
The OP mentions "not suggest to bring children to this event." If you are simply there, you are not at the event, are you? This is also NOT a family event. It is NOT suggest to bring children to this event, although while perfectly legal for children to use firearms at a shooting range, there is expected to be many people attending this UNOFFICIAL event, where firearms will be un-holstered and fired on an active range. The statement in question was... know what never mind, this is pointless and stupid. I hope you realize the same.
