Good Afternoon All!

First time poster here. I would like to thank you all for your stories in this thread. It is giving me the confidence to finally open carry myself. Technically I've been open carrying for a month, but have yet to actually carry inside any restaurants/businesses. Before I would just leave my firearm in my car due to my shy / un-confrontational personality. I also look under 21 despite being 26 so I've been scared of being profiled. But after reading everyone's stories, printing out a OC pamphlet, and learning Nevada Law I have decided I will begin OC all the time. Thank you again for all your submissions without them I probably would still be too nervous to OC. I look forward to submitting my own experiences with open carry in Las Vegas (mainly Summerlin).

Welcome aboard! Within a few months, you'll feel like an old hand at it, and pity the parts of the country where they have stories to tell, as we seldom do, as we like it.

Welcome to the page. Many hard working activists here responsible for making amazing changes within our state for gun rights. Great to see you doing your research and arming yourself with knowledge.

My story is similar to yours. That's the way I felt when I first started. You'll quickly notice that it's not really a big deal and the part of you that wants to 'educate' people will be secretly disappointed when herds of people don't ask you about it.

I made www.nvopencarryinfocard.com and a pocketful of info cards to help myself out if people started asking me about it. It was reassuring, and like I'm sure you found out when making your pamphlet, you educated yourself on all the laws. When I got tired of that cumbersome URL, I turned it into NevadaCarry.org. Now it's turning into 'a thing.' So next thing you know, you'll be one of us. Come to one of the open carry dinner meetups or hit me up and I'd be glad to open carry with you. I'll give you a whole bunch of OC info cards too.

I work overseas but will be home in November and would like to attend a OC dinner, are you having one in November? If not I would be interested in meeting up fellow OCer's in Las Vegas. Thanks. :)

I'll keep you updated. The majority of the LV outings are organized on FB.

Thank you all for your warm welcoming! It really looks like there is a great community on this forum. So far I've open carried at Albertsons (Fort Apache and Sahara), Café Rio (same intersection), and Vons (Desert Inn and Durango). No issues or complaints. Just a lot of double takes. Already feeling more comfortable with OC.

OCd for the first time in a long time to bass pro and then sweet tomatoes by my house. Just like riding a bike, I dont think I even got any double takes. It seems to me that OC is becoming the norm here in Las Vegas. More and more often I have customers come into my work OC

Yep, all thanks to us (and FB too, but it started in this forum). At least I think so. But I think MAC702 was born open carrying.

... I think MAC702 was born open carrying.

I started locally OC'ing in 1992, before the common man had the Internet. I don't remember what guys told me about its legality, but I certainly wasn't the first. It was a very long time before I saw another one, though, and the new wave of OC'ers is nice to see.

I just returned from a successful deer hunting trip in northern Lincoln County. While it is a non-issue, and you can tell the looks are just because they are admiring the wood-stocked 1911, it is still a rare sight in the rural communities like Pioche and Caliente.

Had to renew my license today so concealed up to 77th parking lot then my usual Kentucky tuck.

Sitting there security walks up and tells me I'm concealed and it needs to be out the waist band. I say nevada ddefines concealed as not discernible by ordinary observation. He says no your in violation. I say no. He then goes in the back and about 2 minutes later out comes a lead I officer. He lets me know that security was concerned and asked if he could see my holster. I'm

I semi raise my hand and turn the hip. He goes ok thank you there was some confusion because your holster is typically a concealed carry holster. Have a nice day. As in finishing up security comes walking out the back not looking happy at all and glares at me. Guess they don't like being wrong.

This was at the sahara location.

LOL...a lot of folks are scared of the "tuck".

My two options, depending on which I felt he deserved at the moment:

"Well, uh, you saw it, so discernably not, sir..."

"Take your stupid sign off the window and I'll conceal normally. Would that keep you from wetting your pants?"

Remember, some of these guys tried and failed to be cops. There is resentment about the limitation of their power trips, and they will sometimes push it.

I went with option a and he pushed it. Went to the back where they had a detective or something. Officer had an openly carried firearm no uniform but came up said he was Leo showed me his ID to identify himself and just asked to see the holster. Then like you said his ego was hurt cause the lowly ole citizen who agrgued the law was right and the badge confirmed it and based on the look let him know I'm legal.

One day people will realize that a gun isn't a bad thing, a bad person is.

Also met a former CA LEO. He mentioned he's not normally comfortable seeing people carry but we struck a Congo and he relaxed. I informed him of the law which he did laugh out loud that we can open but not conceal there. And I pointed him to this site and nv shooters as he is retired and does a bit of shooting.

I'm here now at the fashion show shopping center, and after 15 minutes or browsing I was asked to leave. Gladly taking my money elsewhere. I've OC'ed everywhere else on the strip, even other big casinos with no other issues.

Thanks for the posting. In the past there has been some postings of OCers in the Fashion Show with no issues. I guess they have changed their rule.
