While it isn't lost on me that an internet forum, ala
"someone else's house, therefore their rules", isn't subject to the [
supposed] Governmental Constitutional guarantee of Freedom:
For a site that is dedicated to Constitutional freedoms, they seem to be pretty prudish.
^This is where I always kinda shake my head. It's as if various forums, people and ideologies cherry pick the FREEDOMS that best suit them and their agenda.
Now look, I get it! Advocates for gun rights want those that represent them to be portrayed in the best possible light. The problem with this idea is that, simply put -- It's taking out the HUMAN factor of gun owners; some of us swear, some of us have unpopular opinions and/or don't LOOK like responsible gun owners, etc., al.
And this is a problem.
By trying to take the high road, one is suggesting that to fail such an arbitrary litmus test disqualifies you from being part of
us [
Or perhaps, making a splinter faction of the "less desirable" elements of our core beliefs? But shhhhhh! No talking about them. ]
While writing this, it occurs to me that: What if I wasn't a clean cut, well spoken, outwardly friendly, white guy
[who gets all the ladies. oh yeah!] that OCs? Well, to me, and yes again, I get it... it would raise quite a bit of hackles to those unaware that: being an a hole isn't inherently a crime and neither is gun ownership.
In conclusion, I'll reiterate that it has come to the point where we, as gun RIGHTS advocates, are simply
pandering , AS IF WE ARE DOING SOMETHING WRONG! To those that should know better
(civics classes? anyone?), whist CIVIL rights are being drilled into the head of every impressionable child in kindergarten through college. Civil rights are great, but so are constitutional rights. And yet people seem to know more about '
tolerance' and '
not offending' more than they know about... being a free person.
PS:
I don't, in fact, get ALL the ladies. Plz don't tell! Shhhh!
