Hello all....new to open carry.org and new to open carry in general and thought I'd share my first day of open carry with you. So it was pretty much uneventful. Open carried in the Zaxby's in Albemarle NC with two game wardens sitting at a booth across from me, not a word or look from them. Then on my way home stopped at the food lion in Oakboro NC and again nothing no looks or anything...so first day of open carry went pretty good I would say....had the wife and kids with me and I guess that helped out the situation.

Good deal, and welcome to OCDO!

As you continue, you'll notice that your experiences will be very similar. Most people either don't notice or don't say anything- which is how it should me, imo. Every once in a while you'll get people who are "terrified" of guns walk up to you and tell you so, or you'll get a cop who is either being overly aggressive, or simply following up on a call. The important thing is to know the laws inside and out, know where carrying is not legal, and to know that it is your right to carry.

Thanks!....I have actually been contemplating open carry for a while now and this site has been very informative. I think I have good general knowledge of where to carry, what to say when approached by a LEO...u can really learn a lot on these forums...very glad I found the site and all the info that came with it!!

I have never been in a Zaxby's but don't they serve alcohol? If they do you probably should not OC there. It is possible that the game wardens do not know the NC law on carry in a restaurant where alcohol is sold and consumed.

But welcome to OC and OCDO.

I apologize, I haven't introduced myself... But here is my story =/

I started OCing in feb of this year... I tried learning as much as possible about the laws before I OCed incase of an encounter with a LEO. I also watched allot of youtube videos (I think they are entertaining, even though sometimes the OCers act a bit like ********)

So my first negative experience I will say I handled it wrong because even though I tried to prepare myself for the situation, I failed horribly. -.-

=)

Welcome to OCDO!

Contact a attorney, delete your post, sue the store. The security guard as far as I know has no authority to make a detention, and represented himself as a LEO, which is a crime. Have your attorney file for his arrest with a magistrate. FOIA the police dept for all recordings and reports. And from this point on keep quiet until the matter is resolved.

Have you considered what type of new vehicle you are going to purchase with your settlement?

I deleted the quote of your post, so there is not a record if you delete your post.

Just Tires / Any Goodyear store or property

Just wanted to give you all a heads up that they are posted and have a very strict policy against carrying on their property. I had a blowout the other day and the nearest tire place was a Just Tires location. While walking up I saw the sign, then turned around and got in my car with a donut and drove 20 miles to another tire place. I didn't have any no gun / no money cards so I didn't get an opportunity at that time.

Upon getting home, I emailed customer relations in corporate asking if this was a corporate policy and advising them I've listed them with a negative reference on Friend or Foe. This is the response I got back:

"Thank you for contacting our web site and for voicing your concerns. In an
effort to ensure the safety and security of our associates and customers,
we have had a clear company policy regarding weapons in the workplace,
since 2004. The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. prohibits all persons who
enter Company property from carrying a handgun, firearm, or prohibited
weapon of any kind onto the property regardless of whether the person is
licensed to carry the weapon or not. Exceptions apply to on-duty law
enforcement personnel. This policy applies to all Company employees,
visitors, customers, and contractors on Company property -- including our
Company owned stores. All Company properties have received a decal or sign
referencing this policy, and have been instructed to post it.

Barbara
Consumer Relations"

They won't be getting any business from me in the future. Worked out anyway, saved a significant amount of money at the second location.

Ran some errands yesterday with 2 of my kids while I was OC'ing a full-size Glock. We spent an hour or so in Lowe's, then went across the street to Aldi. I heard 2 other kids whispering by the freezer case "Wow, that's a big gun!" "Where? He's got a gun!", but otherwise no reaction. Then a quick trip to Ingles, spent maybe 10 minutes in there, walked past the front end manager a couple times, no reactions. All-in-all uneventful, as it should be.

I stopped at my local chick-fil-a on the way home, carrying my G22 on my hip. No words, funny looks or incidents - even with the Concord PD in there getting his dinner.

Fat-fingered from my Samsung Galaxy TAB2...

I love the reaction of people when they see your firearm, and you walk by a LEO and they expect the LEO to say something (because they don't know the laws) and the LEO doesn't even hint of caring.... It looks something like this
