JayT It was good to meet you at the meeting at McCall's last night. Great work on the web site you created. McCalls is a place I hold open carry meeting every month, most patrons are use to seeing us with guns. Hope to see you at one of our TOC meeting soon.Lannie Godwin
I've been lurking for a while, finally decided to join up.
OC'd in Home Depot in Hendersonville today, spent about an hour and a half in the store with my wife. No strange looks or anything. I did have the guy in the paint dept ask how I got a permit to OC, told him I didn't because there's no need (and no such thing). He seem surprised, said he was retired LEO from CA. I gave him a flier and we talked about OC. He was definitely interested (he said he tried and failed to get a PPP here since he hasn't been here 6 mos). Otherwise, completely uneventful.
Also OC'd in Lowe's in Hendersonville 2 weeks ago, nothing to report there, either.
Whew! Finally made it through all 2028 posts, I plan on OC'ing when I get home and all these stories increase my confidence in doing it, it's just strange to me that I have never seen anybody OC who wasn't an LEO.
I know you say a lot of people don't notice, but after my first combat tour to Iraq, I get nervous in crowds so I try to be aware of other people and what they're doing. I admit I'm probaly a little complacent now, it's been 8 years since then, but I never see it.
When I get home though, the odds of others seeing it go up, and the more it's seen, the less harassment that will happen.
Greetings lads, first time OCer here. Been lurking on this forum for probably a solid 2 years, gaining information on OC for when I got old enough to carry. Open carried at the Wake Forest Taco Bell and Super Walmart, with my full sized M&P 9mm in a G-code XST REAC holster. I was a little nervous being only 18, but luckily I was also with my dad who was CCing at the time. Luckily nary a comment was made about me carrying and made it home with no incident.
there is a few meet and greets around you. i know they have regular ones in the Raleigh area
here is a web site with meeups

I'll look into that when I get back, out here that website is blocked, but you will definitly see me after I get home.
OCDO is a huge help, got into a discussion with my wife about OC, she had already agreed to me CC'ing, and she brought up the usual arguments "someone will try to take it" or "you make yourself into a target", but because of info gleaned from here I was able to if not entirely convince her that it makes sense at least I got her to trust me and let me OC with no complaints.
ps. My wife is Japanese, so anything involving guns is literally a foreign concept (pun intended)
