However , The person identified in the article as Mr Szerdi ,who chose to openly carry under the protection of his 2nd amendment rights should not be the poster boy for Michigan Gun Owners or for the open carry organization. He states ( posts on the open carry site ) that he had called the Fairlane Town Center police and asked if they allowed open carry on their private property. According to his posts , prior to him openly carrying there , The response of the private property police was that open carry was not allowed. Hello!! It is private property and notification had been given.

Mr Szerdi IMO was there looking for a confrontation and as is posted on the open carry website he frequently attempts to draw a confrontation with law enforcement. I believe he put a negative image on the right to carry and is an embarrassment to all of those that carry responsibly ( open or concealed ).

The public and law enforcement need education on the open carry laws. However openly carrying on private property (after being told it is not allowed) then getting into a automobile is not the making of a responsible representative for the cause.

Only my 2 cents
[line]TheSzerdi:
I never claimed to be affiliated with any group. Also, yes, I called Fairlane and got the run around for about an hour before a security officer told me they allow guns, but no OC. When I asked if this was policy and could I get a supervisors opinion I was told none were available. Upon further research I noticed that Fairlane Mall is owned by Taubman and Taubman has been previously contacted and specifically supports OC. It should also be noted that mall security at no time approached me and the Dearborn Police did not stop us until we were driving through to parking lot to leave.

Edited to ask: In what way do you feel that I am attempting to create confrontation with law enforcement? And why does it matter if I get into an automobile?

Nice of him to jump into a discussion he wasn't part of, unless he's the 1 time poster Founding Fathers. Although I rather suspect that was one of the cops?

MGO boards annoy me, which is why I post rarely (such as in my defense...) and read their infrequently.

Edited to add: I guess what irks me the most is that my first post on their forums had to be to defend myself against a slanderous attack.

Don't get down in the dumps! Your posts are good and I have learned much from them, as with many others here on OCDO.

I guess I am glad I only joined MGO so I could browse the Firearms For Sale area and PM someone once I found what I needed!

You know I too am tired of all the crap at MGO over OC.

BUT if we stop posting there they win. So keep up the good fight until we get banned or they close the OC forum, which is being discussed in the members only section.

I am rethinking renewing my membership.

MGO owns this forum your first amendment rights wont be violated. But this name calling, antagonizing and deliberate proding and poking on both sides of these discussions are getting old and doesn't do gun owners and gun rights any good. I have seen 2 go back and forth and now I am seeing one get gang banged by multiple users for no other reason than a opinion or different view of things. I am about tired of it as well as several other PAID and Non Paid members. If it does not I am sure the Administrator and his Mods are about to pull the plug on a few and it isnt a violation of any rights doing so. It is the immature kindergarten actions of a few who are screwing things up.

The Right to keep and bear arms should not have any boundries. It shouldnt be the deer hunters against the dove or The OC over the CC. It is real simple The right to keep and bear arms the more people sling mud or try to muddy the water by antagonistic behavor the harder the rest have to clean up the carnage left behind. If you guys want to keep feuding and proclaiming who's is bigger take each other by the hand and go behind the wood shed and see.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

I did not come to anyones defense except that of EVERY gun owner! Again this feuding amog gun owners isnt doing any good. We all have the option of ignoring someone or keep feeding the fire. Antis view these boards and see the decention in the ranks and feed off of it. WE MUST stand together or fall apart. I have met a few of the players involved here and have traded barbs with both Done Deal and Doug in the past. I put personalities aside and so must everyone here and on MGO. It isnt doctrine that seperates us its pure and simple personalities. Fact is gun owners or 90% of them have type A personalities and if you fill a room full of the same type you will always have issues. Please for the Love of God and Guns lets get along.

The "gang banging" that you perceived wasn't simply because of an opinion or some differing view. It was because of the vindictive personal attacks and blatant name calling whenever one poster starts losing ground in his infantile arguments. Plain and simple. And to side with him, by alleging his being "gang banged" shows your bias in favor of the very trouble maker that causes a great many threads to go South.

Some of us are sure trying Fbuckner... it just get s tiresome when it is the same two or three stoking the fires thread after thread.

I know when I was Moderating a forum or two I would give them one warning via PM and then it was a 30 day suspension. Followed by 60 , 90 and outright ban and IP block.

The problem as I see it is a few people need to get slapped by admin but hard as they think it is all a game. They think they are above the law. If you have rules enforce them.. otherwise get rid of the rules.

Sorry if this is blunt but it's the teacher in me.. I don't beat around the bush.

Also I am not assigning blame. I know it is hard hen you know the people involved personally. However that just means that you MUST apply the rules the same to them as anyone else. And if they don't understand well... that is too bad.

I too agree that we must all stand together ... however some don't seem to get that. They come on here or MGO and rattle their gums to get their rocks off and in the end cause us all grief. Sometimes it is better to do without one or two people if they choose to be a problem then it is to try and keep them on.

I think anyone who OC's and gets illegaly harrassed by our servants is an exceptional poster boy. Those who are against OC are like children who are afraid of monsters under the bed. They fear others opinions more than they will stand up for their rights. When it comes to fighting for their rights, they run.You can be proud of your patriotism Z!

I believe if you continue to present the facts while others act like children, those who are reading the verbal exercise will at least get the facts from you.Thats the benefit. Most people can tell the difference between truth and BS.Do not give up when the facts and truth are on your side, they always win in the end.You look good, they look bad.
