Yes, to none-effect. With help from Billy, I hope to prepare some material to leave with him. Multiple people at this church have CPLs but are not allowed to carry 'cause of one panicky elder! Panic being the real term for Irrational Fear. I have OCd at a number of outdoor church activities so far and only have had good results. but then again, this particular Elder was not there....

PM Scooter, he has a nice write-up on this as well.

OC'd at one of the nicer eateries on Jefferson in St Clair Shores with a friend from Ohio that has a CHL. He was CC and I was OC and I sat strong side in the booth. I could see the waitress check out my sidearm when we ordered but nothing was said. At the end of the meal she said, 'I just have to ask, what do you do for a living?'. I replied, 'I am not a cop, if that's what you were thinking.' She said, 'OK, we were discussing it in the back and thought maybe you were a Bounty Hunter or something.'.

My wife and I went out to dinner with a friend of ours in town visiting. Took her to Big Blue's in Monroe. OC'd of course, no issues, comments or looks. And our friend is from Victoria, BC and she thinks it is great that we can carry firearms in the states.

Open carrying right now on mah couch...cat doesnt seem to mind, though he keeps eyeing me, I think he might be up to something. We'll see if my OC'd pistol changes his mind.

Ugly encounter at the neighborhood watch meeting; Two rabid antis up in arms about any sort of carry, even after a LEO explained the legality of it to them. You just can't fix stupid....:shocker:

Oh well, cant win them all, I'm surprised they were still all anti about it after being explained the legality. Then again finding out it was perfectly legal probably made them more upset.

Zimmerman syndrome. You might defend yourself and anti's dont like that idea. Let em know as long as they dont bounce your head off the sidewalk it wont have to leave the holster. :)

OT: CCed at work, OCed after work.

She was afraid that the hood rats will start OCing. WTF?

We've already had several shootings near (within 1000') of the neighborhood, two of which were on church property. One pastor shot in the head (survived) and three shot in various spots, one in the neck, still in a coma. And they wonder why I carry.

OT: OCed Russ' Division Ave before the meeting.

SCOTSMAN did you cite to him John 22;36-38. it was Jesus's order's to arm yourself

DR.TODD i have been known to pull over and if they come up to the car is there something i can help you with. this has been known to shock some of them

I actually think he ran my plates and, since I'm the registered owner, he found out I had a CPL. OC is pretty uncommon in Ottawa County and I'm pretty sure he thought that I was OC due to not having a CPL. The best part is that I realized later my tail-light is burned out.

No, I meant she thinks you will kill some sweet child eating skittles and drinking sweet tea for no other reason than because your racist. (I have no idea if your racist or not this post is in the eyes of anti's)

Not racist- I hate ANYBODY that ambushes me and beats my head on the sidewalk.

Of course, that's poor SA if you get caught like that.

I think these good outcomes will make people more comfortable open carrying for the first time, however the negative stories would be benificial for those times when a bad situation occurs.

There should be a Negative Open Carry Experience. Its all I ever look for, Kinda boring reading Everything went well over and over.

Its the Negative encounters that help everyone learn from, and develop your own ideas on how you would have handled the situation.

I think what more people should do, and I suggest this a lot, if you know someone who is curious about open carry but nervous about doing it or if theres a new member to this site or another site youre on that wants to but is nervous about interacting with LE or citizens that have questions, invite them out to lunch or for some coffee. Send them your contact information and see if they would like to meet up sometime, a lot of people nervous about it are usually a lot more at ease OCing for the first time with someone else or in a small group, that way they arent the only one and if they have questions they can ask the more experienced person they are with.

I had put together an event for MOC and a gentleman came out and OC'd for the first time to that event, it was a small event as few people showed but he was very thankful for it and he said it made it very easy having other people to OC with. Since then he said he's OC'd in public on his own more confidently and said he plans to do more of it.

So if you find someone curious and on the fence about OC but nervous about what might happen while in public offer to meet up with them and OC with em...it could go a long ways to helping them out.

+1

I agree with Yance. Problem with most OC events for me though, is they are all in central MI. I have somewhat limited mobility due to health issues. Onnie was talking about organizing an event or two in the Monroe area, but I have not heard anything back on it and for myself I am unsure how to do that myself. Any suggestions or advice would be welcome.
