Carried at NEX???

AJG???

Did you REALLY carry (OC or CC) at the NEX?
Has the cheese slipped off thy cracker?
Please tell me it was secured in your vehicle somewhere....

Inquiring minds want to know.

My first open carry experience was yesterday.

I got a few stares, a couple people crossed to the other side of the isle, and a nod accompanied with an "officer".

Went to, the NEX, Farm Fresh, and Autozone

If you didn't notice...

It seems he hasn't posted since this post. I guess the feds caught up with him. :)

As I'm thinking, enigmamwd's username has MWD at the end, which is Military Working Dog (MA). He might have been on duty for that part...

To my new "fans",

Please bear with the new guy...

The NEX in question was off base and that's what drove my decision to carry there. Further, I had the NEX and commisary switched in my head. NEX is a DOD run operation while commisaries are a contracted civilian entity, but nearly always co-located with NEX's...

:banghead: I did some of my own research on the NEX matter and while I've got no definative answer from the NEX or my own searches online, seen evidence either way... it appears to me it's SOME permeation of federal property and while no one even gave me a second glance while there,

I won't make anymore trips to the NEX while carrying.

The bases are very specific and overt about no personal weapons on the naval stations themselves (flashing elec. banners at the entrances) but nothing posted at entrances to the NEX complex.

This OC thing is more complicated than I though...:cuss:

Side note: OC'ed to 7/11 and Taco Bell... not federal property as far as I know.

NEX and Commissary

NEX and the navy Commissary are BOTH on Government property. You better pay closer attention to the signage as you enter the parking areas of that complex. Just because it doesn't have a gate, it is just like Camp Allen and remains government property. I wouldn't get caught carrying at either place if I were you...
It would be detrimental to your military career.

OC-ed to Farm Fresh, bike ride with my daughter around Coventry, then onto Domino's to pick up dinner.

While riding bikes we stopped on the bike path when my daughter decided to take off her sweatshirt. A woman that was walking her dog (that we passed a couple times) stopped and said that her dog wanted to say hi. We talked for about ten minutes with no mention of the Big Hawg on my belt. There was a noticeable pause at one point in the conversation but I wasn't sure if it was because of my gun or not. Nice girl/woman. She looked about 16 to me but she said she would be 28 next month. My age-gauge doesn't seem to be working anymore. ;-) We rode around some more and passed her again on another path.

At the start of the bike ride I also handed out an OC-info card to one of my neighbors that asked me if I started working for the sheriff's office when he saw my gun. :)

Overall a beautiful day and some fun OC-ing.

Glad someone had a fun day. I wired another bank for my solar system, milled a balancing system for a camera rig, hauled wood then split it...about a cord and a half.:banghead:

Just checking in....

Howdy everyone! I know it has been a while since I last checked in. Just wanted to let you know that I was still around. Always enjoy hearing about where folks are OC'ing. My regularly beaten path (Walmart, Rite Aid, Lowe's, and such) are so used to seeing me around now that I am on a first name basis with most of them!! :)

Allow me to share one personal note. I finally received my "20 year letter" from the Virginia National Guard. So, I will be looking towards retiring from there probably next year sometime!!

Take care and have a safe and happy Christmas!

Glad to hear you made it back from your deployment unscratched. :) See you at a dinner sometime & Merry Christmas if we don't see you before then.

Wasnt me MSC45.... I was questioning enigmamdw... NEX = Fed property no matter where it is.. I know better.

Aye. I'd hoped you would. I can't imagine anyone having the kernoodles to carry at the NEX complex on purpose. I can think of a scenario when you forget you're CCing and do it accidently (not admitting it happened to me, of course )... :-x
Hopefully IF you do it, you aren't caught. I would NOT suggest someone break the law (or the Rules of the Board).
