Last year DID turn out great, when everything is kept in perspective.

We got caught at the last minute with only about a week to do this thing. Everybody pulled together and put on a pretty decent STATE level rally to which the official attendance count was around 200. We had a few political candidates who spoke, as well as a couple of experts, including Dave Workman and Gray Peterson. We collected a BUTT load of signatures on several worthy initiatives and we did it all without any help whatsoever from the people at the national level.

Personally, I'm proud of every one of us who worked on that one. It was a tremendous and fully successful effort.

This year we have a great deal more time to plan and execute, so the expectations are a bit higher, mainly for attendance. We have a few more things that are being looked at that didn't quite come off last year due to the late notice, such as the flag ceremony. Otherwise, if we do as well as last year, but with increased attendance, I'll be satisfied.

Tri Cities checking in!

I've been wracking my brain on how to justify a visit to Olympia and failing and then my wife, unasked, decides we need to visit the in-laws at the end of April... On the soggy side of the state. Um, yippee! I/we will be coming unless our plans fall through. It'll be the two of use, the kids will get to stay at Grandma's and we will be taking a couple of days off. I've got a couple of nice umbrellas...

I'll gladly spread some flyers around here in the Tri Cities unless you guys have already done it. I've been needing a good excuse to perform some armed loitering at all the local gun shops anyways.

Dumb question: Have we asked our 2A loving public officials (Senators, Congressmen, Mayors, dog catchers, etc.) to attend? Speaking or not?

Hello Mr. Starks,

I would like to thank you and your constituents for considering Wholesale Sports participation with the 2nd Amendment Rally on 30 April 2011. Unfortunately at this time Wholesale Sports and UFA would like to remain neutral on such nationwide and controversial issues. We do appreciate the efforts put forth by groups such as yours. We look forward to your continued patronage as a valued customer with Wholesale Sports.
Sincerely,

Mr. Ritchey,
I'm sorry to hear that you will not be particapating in our (ALL US citizens) 2A rally. As you said, you do appreciate the efforts that many have put forth. HOWEVER, your very business in a large part would not survive with out customers that are involved in the Second Admendment movement. You have chosen not to participate; that is your choice and I am fine with that. Just don't expect me to visit your store(s) and spend my money.

That name is all you need.

Steve Lee - who sings the song "I Like Guns" sent me this message on Facebook asking if he was going to be in the Seattle area April 30th.
Steve Lee wrote: "I'd love to be there. I am going to the states this year, just not sure when. Nice to know I LIKE GUNS is being played at the rally. Thanks"

Parking lot and Gunshow flier

If you haven't seen it check out the flier that is being hosted by most gun stores, and will be passed out at all the gun shows. http://www.washingtongunrights.com/2A/flier.pdf .Bill and I collaborated on this and have been hitting it hard.Bill has most all the shows and shops on board. In spite of the Lacey Wholesale sports not hosting fliers I was able to get the one in Federalway to do so.In fact they had the opposite reaction and were glad to be a part of this rally.

Note some of the speakers we've lined up and I have one or 2 sort of big names I waiting on (scheduling, hint:eek:ne is in DC).

I was also thinking of having after the featured speakers a time block where anyone can sign up to speak their mind for 2 minutes on 2A issues. We will have a sign up sheet next to the podium. However due to time constraints not everyone may get a chance so it will be a first come first serve.:monkey

I may negotiate with a couple of gun shops for another gun give away through an FFL.That is still in the works and not guaranteed at this point.
