Are y'all gonna throw up a list of needs desires hopes and dreams, so we might volunteer our services or bring that thing that we need to borrow etc?

The state's permit does not allow us to sell anything on the Capitol grounds. Also due to the new rules it will cost us $100 per 10x10 canopy.

Primary Needs:
* 2000 attendees
* audio system (I'm working on it but if someone has access to one at no/low cost, even better) mix board, speakers, 2 mics & cables.
* I have a PVC & sand weight project if someone would like to take it on. (for the OCDO canopy)
* Coolers (we will have water & soda donated and need plenty of storage)
* folding chairs
* fund donations
* will add more as it comes about

I have a couple of mics still I think I better check, a real nice condenser one and sure 57/70 good one. Most my music/Pa stuff I sold last year when broke :cry:. But not my collector Marshal half stack. I still might have the cables too.

In addition
Flags large and small.I have a large American and Gadsen flag I will put up either side of the speakers canopy.
Balloons (we can also pass out to all the kids as well)
Podium
Walkies like we had last year.
Hairspray Oh wait wrong forum :00
Generally all the fluff thats makes these events sound and look good,exciting when folks start to arrive.
We'll need someone to assist in running the sound sysytem.

I will see about setting up a donation path as we had last year.Or you could send you donations directly to me and I will create an account at my bank which are huge supporters .I intend to put in as much money as I can muster for this in the next 2 months. E-mail or PM me.

My safeway has already set aside sodas and waters we will be picking up today.They will also again as we get close give us some pastries we can offer out at the Open Carry table and possibly others if we have enough.

I'm bringing my flag. I've had it since I served in the Reserve in 1997. It has a bit of a history but it's coming with as well. Otherwise, I'll keep you posted offline what I can help with Jim.

Tell me again why we have to have a permit and pay a bunch of money to exercise our RIGHT to peaceably assemble! This is pure BS and of all people WE should know it!

Especially since we won't be blocking any streets or things like that. You think all the illegal immigrants paid for a permit for their march on Seattle a couple years ago?

We are not happy with the process but in paying the fee and getting the permit, it guarantees our use of the area for that specific day and time.

Really sort of not that big of deal Tom.
We did all this last year.It gives us as Bill said exclucivity to the park for that time.We had State patrol support.If someone were to try an cause trouble or disrupt our rally or speakers the permit backs us up in having them removed, if they are to disruptive.No one else can set anything up there during the time we have the permit. No one complained last year and we had a great rally. It is what it is for now.It caught me a little off guard myself but we have this permit so we run with it.When we set up last year the state patrol came over and wanted to inspect the permit other than that we never saw them.

In response to DEROS' picture on the last page: VELLEH NICE!!!

(emphasis mine)

Sounds like a project that involves putting parts together to build something, and with me being the engineer type (working on a degree in mechanical engineering), I'd be more than happy to take it on! You have me on facebook so you should have my phone number. Give me a buzz in the afternoon so we can talk about it.

If we need a pickup truck to haul stuff, I will look into borrowing my grandfather's Chevy Colorado.

I think we should work toward them offering the permit for free next year. We already pay for state patrol so it should really just be a matter of being able to reserve the space. Anyone know how to get the ball rolling on that? I have no clue but would be willing to help.

It is long established 1st Amendment law that the government can establish a nominal non-discriminatory fee for the use of public property in the exercise of a group event. You would need to take it up with the Supreme Court of the United States of America. And no, 'we' do not already pay the state patrol for events like this, this is beyond their basic function and is extra monies allocated by the state.

Mostly a lurker (I'll be there for the event though!) but my two cents is:
We can peaceably assemble all we like for no cost. But setting up tents, a stage, electronics, a PA, and having some support from WSP etc... moves beyond JUST peaceably assembling and seems totally reasonable to me. If we were just gonna march, we'd probably not need to pay a dime.

Well I guess this wouldn't be the first time I've been disappointed in the supreme court. Deros said that all the state patrol did was check the permit and they would respond if there were problems. I'm sure they would normally respond to problems, wouldn't they? Or is that normally left to the Olympia police? If they are normally to respond in the area, then all the extra they would do is check the permit. Please inform me if you know because I genuinely want to know how this stuff works. I'm not trying to pick any fights.

With the permit for OUR rally, the onus would be on the other group IF there were a problem. Without the permit, who knows?
