After many years of open carrying it finally happened. A negative encounter which was with a customer in line at Wal-Mart.

The guy says why do you have a gun? First impression he was not happy by seeing my firearm. So with a big smile I said because it is legal and I can. He just glared and then asked the same question he got the same answer it is legal he shook his head no then asked you can have a gun in Walmart and I said yes it is legal.

Then he asked what am I afraid of with a smile I said nothing that’s why I carry. Then he said I was endangering everyone in the store. I said you need to do some research and I can tell you of some Web Pages that can help you out. He asked again why I was carrying in Walmart. I tried to direct him again to web pages for some information that might better answer his questions. He said I am not interested. I said you asked questions I am just trying to help you find the reasons why people open carry.

Then he said I have a CCW and I do not carry in Walmart or the post office. I told him it is illegal to carry in the post office. He said you’re telling me it is illegal to carry in the post office and not in Walmart? I said that would be correct.

At this point being an ambassador for open carry faded away and I have to apologize to my fellow ambassador OCers but niceness and professionalism went out the door. He once again said in a firm and somewhat loudly you are endangering everyone here. I replied with a respectfully you are full of ****!!! He said someone could get my gun and kill a kid. I said no they can’t, he said you going to stop them. Someone could grab it.

With the biggest **** eating grin and with an extremely confident stern tone of voice looking him square in the eyes said (and yes I know it was stupid on my part) you want to come over here and get it!!?? At least he was smart enough not to try. Then he says he was a sharp shooter, I said and you have no idea what my training or ability is do you.? He did not have an answer. Then he said I served in Vietnam, I said what does that have to do with Walmart?

He said I fought for our rights and I said that I carry for my legal rights. He for the most part shut up as I was paying for my goods. I told him as we left you have a great day. I thought I should have said have a nice trip back to Comuforina. My wife could not believe what a brain dead idiot the guy was.

One little negative run in is doesn’t hold a candle to the hundreds of positive usual encounters. I did have three different people say as we were shopping good to see you carrying just before we had the pleasure of meeting this idiot.

I was a 153MSG in the 131st Chairborne Rangers with that guy and I can vouch for his qualifications. He's an expert intelligence sharpshooter and served with my grandfather in the 1st Battalion REMF Corps in Saigon as a logic bomber. His mission was to expertly shoot holes in his own intelligence and try to defeat the enemies logic by overloading their brains with stupidity.

The funny (or sad) thing is, that guy doesn't even know he is that stupid. "Hello, I vehemently disagree with your open carry of that firearm. I think it could lead to negative consequences." But no. Instead, let me start shouting at a guy with a gun. :banghead:

Probably the same whackjob from Pahrump that left a nasty comment on my blog about open carriers want to murder everyone.

I'd like to know where he got his CCW certification. Proof positive that this certification should not be a requirement. Idiots will always be idiots.

No need to apologize. After all, we are proof that carrying firearms is for NORMAL people. And any normal person would have had "enough" of that guy.

I believe the CCW remark was bogus as it appeared he had no idea what the gun laws are. The typical tactic anti gunner trying to show a fake I am for the Second Amendment with statements like I have a CCW. Kind of like the politicians saying I am for the Second Amendment I shot a shotgun once.

I don't know. I mean, I think I know the gun laws pretty well, but was taught an entirely different set of them by a CCW instructor with his own agenda. :banghead:

Oh, and read the riot act by another self-proclaimed CCW holder. So I think it is safe to say that misinformation is alive and well in the CCW scam.

Agree to bad we have so many CCW instructors willing to do as you say instruct with their on agenda having nothing to do with the laws. On the other hand good we do have a few such as MAC702 willing to instruct within and teach the laws as they are written.

Agreed. As a matter of fact, I just told my neighbor about Mac. Told him that if he and his girlfriend want to learn the laws as they are when they apply for the their CCWs, go to Mac. Hopefully they do.

The Southern Nevada open carry Face Book had their monthly dinner at Heart Attach Grill on Fremont Street. I am guessing there was over 25 OCers we took up two long tables. There was several woman OCers. Say is it not so we even had kids. One family with the toddler in moms hand on the other hip was a nicely holstered firearm followed by Dad also OCing with the baby in a stroller. Another Dad with his two boys. The Heart Attach Grill is very gun friendly and the hamburgers were great. We had a dozen or so that walked and enjoyed the Fremont experience, no issue. Good food, visit and outing. I would post pictures however I apparently do not have the ability to post a picture large enough to see.

Must be a messy place where y'all have to gown up! Or is it to keep ketchup & mustard from getting on your weapons?

Btw we have a family friend moving to Gardnerville for a job. Know it is not close to LV but I think she's going to like it. Look forward to a driving trip out there this Fall or next Spring to see her.

All the regular haunts on a daily basis, as usual. But I've neglected to mention that I have a new lunch spot in the NW part of Las Vegas on days when I am out there: Great Links Brewhouse and Grill in the Lowe's parking lot at Jones and Craig. Not sure where "brewhouse" comes from, as all their beer is bottles, but they do have a great selection of beer as well as an incredible selection of dogs, with many varieties of sausages, too. Absolutely no issues with open carry, including drinking beer with your dog, and one of the cooks is a fellow Seattle Seahawks fan.

Open carrying At Bonnie Springs 3 days with our family reunion. Restaurant, old town, zoo and motel no problem. Event organizer said a few years ago there was owner's who had different opinions on allowing legal firearms. Said that they are now definitely pro 2nd Amendment. Food was very good. Bbq ribs are really good.

OC'd for about two hours this morning at Silver Springs park (Green Valley) along the Pitman Wash trails and the paved lane that overlooks the wash. Nobody said a word, even though I interacted with a LOT of people. For some this might've been the first time they've seen me OC. The topic of guns never surfaced, but the image definitely registered. What they saw was a man, who is well-known and well-liked, friendly, neatly-dressed...who happens to be armed. And that is the whole point.

With congress seeking to limit our 2A rights next week, I think it's important to project a positive image among the sheeple that law-abiding gun-owners are everywhere. In fact one of them might be your next-door neighbor.

If you're in Green Valley we ought to meet up sometime. Just imagine two well-dressed armed dudes (well, one well-dressed man and a younger guy who doesn't dress like a thug).

Sounds good. I'm a dog-walker and most like me are up EARLY to beat the heat (got an older dog so we're outta there by 8:30/9:00am). I hear Monday's gonna be a scorcher.

I go late at night! It's magical and I ain't got nothing to be scared off. Except for that one incident with the noise in the bushes where I actually drew my gun for the first time.

Welcome to the relatively boring (hopefully) world of open carry.

Oced today at Discount Beads on Durango near Flamingo. Wife does crafty stuff they have good products and prices and never an issue with my firearm.
Then off to Sketchers on Flamingo. They have security actually seen him before no problem with my firearm. Ended up talking to another costumer about OCing. Said he was a retired cop I believe back east some where it was a good conversation I gave him one of my info cards with the NV carry, open carry FB and open carry dot org web page info.
Then we went to another crafty store Joann’s on Marks and Sunset, never an issue, on the way to the vehicle I heard a guy behind us say I am guessing you are not a hillary supporter. I sad good guess. He and his wife were in favor of those that carry had we a good pro gun conversation and I gave him one of my info cards.
Purchased some doggy goodies from pet smart as usual no issues.
End the day at Marie Calendar Stephaney near Sunset never an issue there.
