Bat My understanding is start gathering near Tivoli (SP) fountain about 11 the actual event is at high noon and I would imagine it will not last long. Good on ya for making both events. We are all gong to have to do a lot of this this year.

What's insulting about a group that believes in the Constitution flying the Gadsden flag?
This is a good question!

If anyone does not like it then come take it down, I'll wait right here for them to show up.

Orphan, I will stand with you while you wait.

I seem to be saying 'welcome' quite a bit now. Very refreshing to hear evidence of an Armed Society.
Welcome to OCDO Xmmauto, and you too Mercy.

My club uses the Gadsden snake as part of the patch. I have always felt it was a proud symbol with strength and integrity. Many have used this symbol, most of which have no affiliation to eachother, some separated by many years even. I seen it at rock concerts and used as a tattoo, painted on trucks etc.
- Love it for what it is, and give those that use it with honorable intent room to do so.

Not trying to be a pain, just plan on inviting people and don't want to look stupid. the calendar shows them in session up to the 18th, nothing is scheduled on the 19th.

I am going both times and any time that is scheduled.

Jim

No pain. They will be in town but it's the weekend and they generally live in their home districts. So, of the folks from the staffers I spoke to today, several may be visiting us for a chat. Gun people vote...

Nothing at all. On the 19th, I hope to fly my Gadsden because I believe in the Constitution. That isn't what urks me.

It's the way it has been designated it as their "political symbol" that bothers me.

Let me make sure I understand you correctly. They are attempting to take away your rights and your are worried about insulting them, did I get that right.

BTW the Gadsden flag flies 24 7, illuminated BTW, in my drive way along with an American flag and a USMC flag for my son and ancestors.

No no no. I could give a damn about insulting the government. What I meant was that I think it is a bit insulting to for the modern Tea Party Movement to use the Gadsden as their political symbol, if that makes sense? I'm not very good with words. I'm not sure if its official or not (their use of the Gadsden), but seems to be the general consensus.

That being said, I flew my Gadsden and my American flag outside my condo for awhile, until the Homeowners Association decided it was against the rules. It was the fact that the two flags got in the way of things, so I took them down out of respect for the other people who live in my complex. If I lived in a house without fairly small outdoor walkways, I would still be flying them, and telling my HOA to :cuss: off.

So I keep my American flag hung in my bedroom, and my Gadsden on my piano, where I sit and play for several hours a day. It invigorates me. Because I spend so much time looking right at it, it has kind of burnt that message even deeper into my personality.

Dont tread on me.

Again, what's wrong with that?

I'm not saying anything is wrong with it. All I said is that it urks me. I don't have anything against the Tea Party movement; quite the opposite actually. I just think its a bit off to use as a political icon. That's all. It is a historical icon, and should be represented and respected as such.

I completely understand why the Tea Party movement uses it. I would even agree that it is fitting. But I still think it is a bit insulting.

Anyone have a desire to meet up at 11am at a Starbuck's or some such? If the kids are doing okay I am considering stopping at the Cabella's on the way back to grab lunch, would love to meet some more of the folks that will be heading north after the event.

I may be going out on a limb here, but maybe it's like the commonly used battle flag of the confederation. People now have twisted that into a symbol of racism, where I know many people who simply look at that as a simple of rebellion against an ever intrusive government. When certain groups parade the flag I can see where some would find it insulting.

I might be up for it, hit me up closer to the date. Would love to see you and your family again.

If anyone is going from Seattle / Bellevue (or further north), I would very much like to go. Can chip in a bit for gas. I plan on open carrying a 1911 and a long rifle. Haven't decided which yet. If anyone has a handheld flagpole, that would be great as well. I do not have plans to make signs, but would love to fly my Gadsden.

PM me for contact info if you think you'd be able to bring me along. If you happen to have 2-3 extra seats, that is even better, as my girlfriend and buddy would like to show their support as well. Thanks!
