I, too, live in a manufactured home community and have OC'd for the past two weeks after I was assaulted while walking my dog. I was informed by the manager today that it was not permissible to OC or carry w/ a CPL since it is "private" property. Is this true or is it BS?

PM stainless, I know he went through this with his mobile home park.

id read the lease, i know my apartment manager told me no guns were allowed and tried enforcing it until i showed her the written rules that said "except as provided by state and federal law" it seems people often forget the buts in those rules, i was given no more hassles after proving it to my people, may be the same for others.

My employer also has this wording in my employee manual...

Went to my credit union this morning OC. no problem from management but a gentleman in line in front of me turned and noticed my pistol and said something like "oh, I see YOUR ready". He then proceeded to tell me he was mugged sitting on his front porch over memorial day weekend by 4 "kids", one with a gun, and they took his wallet and car. I told him you just never know when things like that will happen and thats why I carry EVERYWHERE, EVERY DAY. I even told him I have it next to me at home, at the ready. I then went to VG's on Davison rd. for some gorcery shopping. Anyone near me noticed, even the store manager and absolutely nothing was said. Went and bought a lotto ticket at the service counter too. No one said diddly. Not even any curious inquiries, and I had the tri folds ready too.

Yes and no.

They own the property, therefore they can tell you not to carry in the park. However, you pay rent for the lot, and the home, therefore you have similar property rights as a homeowner. Provided that you didnt sign a lease agreement that prohibits lawful carry, you can carry as you please on your lot.

like i said, READ the policy!

me pointing out to the new manager that it said except as allowed by state and federal law, then showing her the state and federal laws....she changed her mind really quick.

today i took my daughter to the park adjacant my apartment building, still apartment owned...there were some young college girls openly carrying and borderline brandishing they're....assets so my woman made sure we didnt stay long :shocker:

anywho...here is a picture.can see my gun sort've in the shadows under my elbow.

Spotted my first OC'er today, it was in Dearborn Heights, he was pushing a stroller north on Telegraph, between McD's and Mickeys dairy twist. Anybody from here, I was turning the corner on a Harley as you approached the corner.

If there are HOA or lease agreements, you might be ******.

If there is nothing about carrying in a lease or HOA agreement, tell the guy to get bent.

Of course, while they can't give you the boot specifically for CC/OC, they can make your life a living hell by nit-picking everything; lawn length, skirting, doggy doo, leaking oil; the list is endless.

And to think, I was pissed because the manager here said I can't carry in the office / club house. OC everywhere else in the park is cool with them. Guess I got it pretty good....

Edit to add- OT- OCed essentially everywhere else except work.

This isn't really OC related but yesterday morining I was inside my vehicle parked in a desolate corner of a parking lot listening to the radio and a Livonia squad car pulls up alongside and the following exchange takes place:

LEO:"You alright this morning?"

Me:"Yeah. I'm carrying two concealed weapons gentlemen."

LEO:"Alright." (he looks at his partner and they exchange a knowing smirk)

Me: "You wanna see some I.D.?"

LEO:"No, just wanna to make sure you're alright back here."

Me:"Yeah I'm good, yeah."

LEO: "You have a good morning." (places car in reverse and drives away)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wednesday morning as I was walking to my vehicle to goto work a DPD LEO was parked right across the street from my vehicle I was OCing with my dual configuration as usual so I was certain he was going to at least inquire about me and or the pistols in which I possessed. I greeted him with a "Good morning officer." and he replied in kind and surprisingly that was it - which is how it's supposed to be.

OCed twice this week at Walmart in Livonia, no problems no issues.

Way back, when I first moved to Mason Manor, I encountered the head maintenance guy, who I think also is like the manager in charge or something, he tells me I "can't carry like that." And I asked if it was against the park rules, he said no, "state law." And I said, No, it's not, you should go re-read the laws, and you'll see it's perfectly legal. I even gave him some info on it.

He's never said anything more to me about it, but it seems like I'm always the first one in my section to get some notice about cutting the grass, I wouldn't normally think this is out of the ordinary, but I've seen a number of places with grass taller than mine, and when I inquire of the residents, they've not received any notice. It wouldn't be so bad, but when they give me the notice, I have like 3 days to get it cut, or else they will cut it, and charge me for them doing it. And they typically give me the notice AFTER my days off, when I won't have time to do it for another 4-5 days.

This last one, I got after taking the better half and the 2 boys to my mother in law's, in Chicago to drop them off. I get back, sick as a dog, because of some summer flu or something, and there's the notice, taped to my front door. I told the girl in the office, I just got back from Chicago, I have to work the rest of the week, but on my next day off, I will cut the grass. She seemed fine with it.

Some people. Oh well.

OCed yesterday at Mason Meijer, Speedway, and Taco Bell.

OCd at Cheddars in Lansing today with the wife and kids. I sat strong side in at the booth but wife wife said she saw the manager notice me on the way out. By that point we had already eaten and paid. Nothing was said. I have no idea if he cared or not.

At Auto-zone the manager commented on me "exercising my right to open carry". A couple customers commented but nothing sounded negative.

I haven't posted much since joining, but I have been following topics :)

Anyhow, I've been OC'ing more and more, almost to the point of if I'm not sleeping, I'm "wearing my gun" as my kids call it. Tonight I OC'd to the Redford fireworks at Belle Creek. This was by far the most conjested area I've ever carried. Redford PD saw me and noticed me but nothing was mentioned. Other than that, there was a guy that stopped me and asked me about OC in MI, he has only CC'd with his CPL, and said he's always worried about going to places like "this" and a lot of people with his weapon. I just smirked and told him better to "have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it." I was able to share some info and pointers with him that I've picked up from this awesome site. There was a group of early-teens that my wife over heard whispering "that guy, that guy has a gun, see it on his hip?" And then while I was watching my kids play on the playground a middle-school aged boy came up to me and asked if I was a police officer, I kindly told him No, I'm not. He asked a couple more questions and I gave him honest "neutral" answers, and he was on his way. It was a good time at the fireworks and a nice display as well.

Sooo... you Notified,,, when "Duty to Notify" did NOT Apply...

You asked if he wanted to see some I.D.?
My questions is this...
How would you have proceded... If he had said YES... I do, wanna see some I.D.

It might be a gray area. He was in his car, and they were checking on him. I'd say he played it smart by informing them.

i was gonna ask who was at the mason meijer the other day, my woman's parents saw it and made mention of it this morning to me...but im assuming it was big gay al since he said he recently went there.

yesterday i carried at portrait innovations with my daughter, the photographer girl seemed to be trying to purposely keep my gun out of sight of the picture(which didnt really bother me, seeing as i was there for photos of my family and not my gun) but nothing was said, a guy about 15-17 id assume did a few double takes but again, nothing said.

we were gonna go to johnny rockets, but they are now out of business. so we drove over to the Fleetwood Diner, then got the kids ice cream at Dairy Queen, no issues there either.

today im going to try and make it to hopkins lake in Owosso for the OC event before i head over to my CERT training near bancroft.
