Keep going

i'm in the eastern panhandle. Martinsburg area.

That's great to hear. It does feel a little lonely never seeing any ocers.

I'm surprised i haven't seen you at some point shallnot. Although i do hate shopping, i oc all the time in martinsburg. The only time i don't is when i have to go to md which is too often.
It is just a matter of time i guess.

i open carry in this area all the time so your not alone. Keep it up

Glockboy88, welcome to the forum and thanks for posting you WV OC experiences. I Live in VA but get out to WV in during the warmer months once or twice a month to enjoy the great outdoors there (mostly Hardy County area). I do open carry when I am there and have never had any problems gassing up the car, going into the local grocery store, etc. Keep on OCing like you are....hopefully it will catch on!

I live in Huntington and almost always OC when I am out with the kids, not always by myself but need to more. Yet to have any incidents, Sheetz, Speedway, Kroger all seem to have no issues.

All too quiet in here lately.

Did everyone stop OC'ing because the weather got chilly out?

Went into the ciggy shack (off 51) to get roll some smokes a while back. Sat down and waiting on the machine to do it's thing and the lady that was working there looked over and saw my gun. She asks if I was a marshal or cop and stuff I'm reply nope. She's like ohhh, umm... and that was it.

OC'd at the stop and rob (mini-mart) by my house, guy coming out the door looked at my hip then nodded and said hello. Clerk looked at it while I was in line but didn't say anything.

Nothing exciting.

I open carried into Subway in Nitro 4 days ago, and other than some long awkward glances, no problems.

OCed in Nitro Tudors this morning. The older guys were having a AR debate. Then to Aldi's in Dunbar. A French woman was jabbering like a hen (I mean really, she sounded like a disturbed hen), and I kept hearing the word gun from her. Then to Nitro Walmart, other than a cashier sighing at me, nothing out of the ordinary. Had my 4y/o son with me the whole time, and played with him constantly.

OC'd at the Weis in Ranson today. Had a lady ask if it was real, I looked at her with a confused look on my face and said "yes, why would I carry a fake gun" she smiled and said good point. No other questions or looks of concern.

New to this site

Hey guys im new to this site and OCing but I have done it a few times here in Southern West Virginia (McDowell County) a few times but not a lot. Any suggestions on how to answer someone that is insulted by me and says something about it?

A very simple, have a nice day Sir. Nod or smile as you walk away and save yourself the trouble of arguing with an idiot.

some will tell you to tell them to go f*** themselves. but i hope that if i encounter someone that has met you that they would look a little more pleasantly on carriers. just the same if you meet someone that i have left and they will think that carriers are good people.

one good question you could ask people is why do you fell like that. i have asked people that and gotten some really dumb answers, but i do get a lot that i can answer. it is very easy to counter most "feelings" of the anti constitutionalists, with logic. and even if you don't convince them, you might convince someone listening to you

here is president the WVCDL giving a good argument to a reporter

i hope you will join the WVCDL, you will learn a lot by hanging around people like yourself

Martinsburg, Aldi

Well I had a rather interesting Saturday, I was running most of the day here and there with the wife and daughter. Generally I carry my Glock 19 concealed just to avoid the responses of the sheep, but that day I opted to open carry in a Level 2 Serpa.

On our way home the wife reminded me that we needed milk and a few other staples, so as we were passing Aldi I took the opportunity to save an extra trip. As I was shopping a young woman working there came up to me and asked me for a "High Five" she said I love to see people carrying their firearm's like that, I was looking around to see what was going on, I thought it was a set up. But nothing happened to my delight.

All in all a good gun carrying day.

I spotted an OC'er at the Circle K a few nights ago on my way to work in Morgantown on rt 119.
He was wearing a biker outfit and driving a red pickup trick.

Was that anyone here?

I know it was a 1911 he was carrying.

What is the WVCDL? And how do I join, but anyway I was in walmart last Saturday and I ran into 2 WV state troopers they came up and the typical whatcha doin causal like but they just wanted id but they really didn't push the issue to much. But you could tell that they weren't to happy but accepted the fact I had it. They just stood and talked to me for a few minutes then told me to have a great day and walked away.

they were fishing, trying to get you to do something they could have arrested you for. this comes from a very ignorant part on the LEO. first is they can't get it through their head, a person carrying open is not the type of person that would break the law. if you were a criminal you would hide it.
second the person OCing is doing nothing wrong or illegal, the first part is in effect here too. the question is if the person was wearing their clothes backward would you need to ID them?
third, they want to harass you because they know they can. you being an honest citizen that carries open, probably won't give them a hard time. they need to learn that there is a constitution and it is a 4th amendment.

now you can do what you want to avoid further harassment. my response would be hi my name is Chris.

LEO; show me some ID
me ; what is your RAS, since i have already told you my name
now it depends a lot on how he responds
LEO; just give me your ID
me ; go pound sand; or
LEO; we would just like to see for sure who we are talking to PLEASE SIR
me; (maybe) why sure officer if you stay nice

LEOs need to learn they must have good reason to break someones 4thA rights

Bruceton Mills, WV V.F.W. is not gun friendly. No signs are posted at the entrances.
I was asked to remove my sidearm once it was noticed. I was told that it was a V.F.W. thing.
I did some research and from my findings it is not a V.F.W. thing. It can be voted on by the members of the V.F.W.

Just F.Y.I.
