Rush,

Seriously, where you people come from?

It will be a long while before we are bankcrupt in this country. Too all you wishful thinkers, who deep down want there to be a collapse, get a clue.

Republicans are going to lose politically as the years draw on. People are sick of dealing with half baked fear mongerring solutions from the Right.

Republicans are in such a bad state of affairs that they cant win against a Kenyan born President with 8+% unemployment....freaking hilarious. Oopsie, sorry about that...Romney was just a bad candidate LOL.

And all this BS about the Second Amendment keeping the Government in line out of fear, give me a freaking break. Most firearm owners would hand them over, very few would fight back, and if they did, the average gun owner will get their ass kicked, as I stated before.

Just like the fantasy that the death penalty acts as a deterrent, also is the fantasy that firearm owner keep the Government a bay....it't a cute thoughtthough, to think firearm owners have that much sway in the daily happenings of the Federal Conquest.

With respect, if everyone thought like this, this country never would have been born in the first place. Hope and dream. Pretty soon, it's all we'll have left. You are probably one of the most cynical people I will never have the pleasure of meeting.

I'm cynical, I agree.

Hope has slightly more Power over the psyche than Fear, IMO.

Prediction: Nothing substantive will be done about violence, and mental illness in this Country, that is, nothing more than is already being done. At the end of the day, there will be magazine limits, and a bit of money devoted to tightening up security at schools, but that's it. AR's will still be sold on shelves across America at the end of Obama's time in office......50 BMG's though, will be axed as well. Laws will be stiffer for firearm crimes, it doesnt matter anyhow, and is not a deterrent IMO. So: SUBSTANCE FREE!

Finally. The first thing I've ever seen you post that made sense and I can agree with lol.

I should add that there may be some cosmetic stuff banned to, but it won't go so far that your forced to hacksaw your pistola grip off.

The fight will be rough, and Republicans, if they fight against it too hard, will lose seats in two years because they did nothing, or because they capitulated....either way, they are going to lose this battle.

Debt ceiling will be won by Democrats....if Republicans push it, Obama will EO it, and win the move in public opinion.

I stated this two years ago, leading up to the election....Republicans are, and will overplay their hand and lose.

This is not the 1990's, an AWB would favor the Democrats this time around. Raising taxes will benefit the Democrats, as long as its levied against the wealthy....250,000 per year plus.

Republicans are too far Right...tea party types are so far Right, they occupy the same space as OWS types.

The funny thing about the military is that it can't function anymore with out the armies of civilians contractors that help to run it on a day to day basis it would come to a screeching halt with out civilian support and our military is in piss poor condition. IF we were to actually go to war with someone who had decent navy think China or say Iran that uses asymmetric warfare we would have our asses handed to us and sent packing, it takes a lot of ships to win a war , but it only takes one missile to sink a air craft carrier or make it a combat ineffective kill and there are a lot more Surface to surface and Air to Surface missiles in this world than there are ships in our fleet. As far as communicating and being battle efficient against tanks and ground troops we are being slayed by the dozens with IEDs. We made heavy up-armored vehicles they just made bombs bigger to defeat that, we made the armor thicker so they just made EFP IEDs that will melt through armor quicker than a hot knife threw butter that will burn, deform, kill and knock out anyone inside the vehicle, as far as planes go, sure I'm a few bombs would be dropped until family members were starting to get killed, there are a whole lot of veterans and active duty military folks that have been trained enough and indoctrinated enough on how insurgent warfare is waged to carry it out here in the US and enough people that would be sympathetic to the cause to keep it going for a long time. But to even think that it would get to that point our economy and country would ever get to that point all i would be thinking about would be the survival of my family, what does a divided and broke nation have to offer me for the risk of losing my life, not a dam thing. Remember there are only three things humans need to survive in this world Food,Water, and protection from the elements, humans have been around for a long time without an of the modern day conveniences. On that note no legislation worth a dam will ever pass......

You speak as if you know so much, when in reality you cant even see that the Rs and the Ds in Washington are 2 heads of the same puppet. YOUR warmonger President Obama is no better than Bush and is responsible for as many deaths abroad. He continues and expands all the travesties that Bush Started/introduced.

A blind fool may be able to speak like they can see, but they are still a blind fool.

FOR THOSE WHO ARE LIKE TL;DR, JUST READ BELOW

Now let me absolutely wage total war and take a huge fat dump on your first statement. I'm in the Army National Guard. I'm an infantryman. I did a deployment to Iraq. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR A CONVENTIONAL MILITARY TO WAGE WAR AGAINST AN INSURGENCY AND WIN. I said it. Our involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan is a huge stinking waste of time. I'm not going to get political about it, but I'm saying from a warfare standpoint. You can rack up huge body counts. An M1 Abrams can send a 120mm HEAT round through a sniper's perch and obliterate him. An Apache helicopter can engage targets at night from a mile away and you won't even hear it or know it's there. The US military now has GPS guided artillery shells that can level a house and leave the surrounding neighborhood untouched. Drones can find you anywhere in the world, and then kill you. The average US infantryman's M4 carbine will have a PEQ4 or PEQ15 IR laser attachment, that points a beam invisible to the naked eye but visible to any and every soldier with night vision equipment, and use it to mark targets for friendly assets.

Here is the one thing you are seeming to forget, however: You can not kill an idea. The country was divided in 1776. Only an estimated 3% of colonists actually took up arms against the British government, which had the most advanced and highly trained military in the world for its time, and they did it with the assault rifle of its time. Every drone piloted, every tank crewed, every M4, every howitzer, and every warplane has an American citizen at the controls, and I'd like to think that when push comes to shove, and the 11th hour arrives, you'd have just enough people give into their conscience and remember their oath to the constitution.

After all, if "ragheads" or "cave dwellers" that have been demonized in today's society and likened to the devil can fight the most advanced military for 10 years and still be kicking with inferior equipment and training, I'd like to think a bunch of red blooded pissed off patriots and war veterans who are sick and tired of being pushed around and have their money pissed away to countries like Pakistan can at least get people to wake up. Time to make up your minds, people.

I applaud everyone's ability to save this thread. As I read through the last page I was sure walkingwolf had completely derailed it into a gaping abyss of stupidity.

say the ONLY part of the bill that passes is the 10rd mag limit like berettachic claims. what will happen to the millions upon millions of 30+ round mags currently in our country? and what will the government do about it? legally, they can't do squat, because they are not an item that is registered or tracked in any way. so only two things could happen; gov will find them legally due to the owner making a stupid mistake, or gov will find them illegally which I'm sure will cause some hefty issues that will just balloon into bigger and bigger issues in other various ways.

What if it passes? Only 2 ways it can go, the end of the America I was born in in 1960, or the shooting will start, but it will still be the end of America. :cuss:

Beretta: While I don't always (or even most times) agree with you, I can almost always see your point of view. But after your last few posts I have to ask, "Have you received a blow to the head lately? Any history of blood sugar issues in the family?" We are beyond broke. A 1981 penny has 3 cents worth of copper in it. It costs 11 cents to make a nickel. We have $16,500,000,000,000.00 in direct debt and another $200,000,000,000,000.00 in unfunded liabilities. Meanwhile I was in line TWICE today behind people buying junk food with EBT (food stamps) while I go home and eat corn and rice. One of the people in question, after buying a gas station honey bun, went over and played $20 in a video poker machine.

I am so happy to know my money went to buy someone junk food so they could have gambling money.

IMHO: The contract "We the People" made with the Government allowing the government to exist is the constitution. The constitution says the government will not mess with the peoples firearms. If the government feels that no longer matters, and wants to take the guns, then there was not a meeting of the minds and there is no contract. The government now has the status of any street gang. If they want to kick down my door, I will give them the same standing as any other gang.

i feel that many cant add the pieces together to see that the gubmint wont directly take our guns, but rather will label things pertaining to the function and ability to use guns as illegal if you dont register or pay a tax/fee etc etc. and by not following the new law they will place on your "high cap mag" or accessory or cosmetic whatever, will give them justifiable legal means to confiscate your gun because of breaking a law indirectly related to said guns.

so the government wont take your guns away directly, they will take them because you broke a law relating to them. the guns wont be the criminal or illegality, the owner will be the felon.

This is one of the most honest statements I have seen 92F post. It is time to wake up.

definitely a possibility. but I'm sure the majority of americans with 10+ cap mags will do a good job of hiding them. so what could the gov do about it? I mean really, there's millions and millions of them. do they honestly think the large majority of these mags will be forfeited to them?

I stated that if they really want to effectively stop the use of high capacity magazines--assuming that that is what's used in these situations--a buy-back program would be the best option; current magazines will likely be Grandfathered in.--capacity limits will likely be made permanent.
