I called the Police Records Division today to inquire as to the status of my CPL. 29 days later , and the lady said that my app. was in the pile to process on monday and that I could pick it up after 3pm or else wait for the mail to go out on tuesday. This whole time it was just sitting around. I am not angry, I never have bad thoughts.
You aren't really surprised are you? It would be nice if the law said "shall issue ASAP, but no long than 30 days". But it doesn't so the police treats the citizens as if they were criminals, delaying thee citizens rights as long as possible.

City residents are also county residents and you have the option of the city or the county.

True, unless you're a resident of Tacoma or one the surrounding smaller cities that are part of LESA--in our case, both TPD and PCSO use the same interlocal agency to do all those kind of services, so there aren't really two options. Not that I've ever had or seen a problem with LESA regarding CPL stuff, mind you.

I was issued my CPL from application at the Pierce County Building in Tacoma in 8 days, my buddy got his the next week and recieved his in 12 days. I think it varies on workload as well.

When i was in for my application / fingerprinting there were 13 other people there for the same thing. Half the time I visit that window for police report copies, etc, I am surprised by the amount of people waiting around.

Marysville had a policy under the old chief of police to hold the license until the last day (30 from application date)and then mail it. Don't know what the new chief's policy is but Marysville is not long on staff so I don't see it changing much.

I have a Msword draft of a letter I wrote to the Sunnyside Police Department threatening to sue, and laying out the legal basis for it, quoting laws and court cases and all that shenanegins. It got me mine, after I was informed in writing that I would not be issued one, and I would be more than happy to see it in use if someone else would like it.

Details? What were their grounds for refusal? This sounds like an interesting story.

Well, tomorrow marks 30 days. No permit in the mail yet. I did call Renton PD on Friday and they confirmed that it had been issued and that if I didn't have it by Monday to simply come in and they would reissue. I presume that means that they will simply give me a new permit on the spot?

So, I stopped by the PD today to have my permit "re-issued", explaining what I was told just last week. Well, the lady behind the window asks for my last name and then proceeds to tell me that she just typed mine out and mailed it today. :banghead::cuss:

I thought they had to get this done in 30 days?!? Can anything be done for this since it was their laziness that caused the delay?

You all should move to Port Angeles for the fact that it took me only about 35 min to get my cpl... From the time I walked in the door to the time it was in my hand.
