i argue on the average joe level, about how im a regular citizen with a family to protect. i did not matter what i or others said during the hearing, the motion was moved ahead even before Saldana finished her speech. When me and other members spoke in opposition we got nothing but sour faces and laughs coming from the committee.

Thank you for contacting my officeregarding my position on AB 1934(Saldaña, Ammiano), legislation relating to firearms. I appreciate hearing from you on this important issue.

As you know, AB 1934 would make it a misdemeanor to openly carry an unloaded gun in public areas.

This measure passed the Assembly Public Safety Committee, and it is awaiting hearing before the Assembly Appropriations Committee.

While Ihave yet to establisha position on this measure, I am continuing to review this bill should it come before me for consideration.

Thank you again for contacting me. If I can be of any assistance in the future, please don't hesitate to contact my district office at (562) 495-2915.

If you would like to be placed on our email list for updates on important issues, please visit my website at: www.assembly.ca.gov/lowenthal

Sincerely,

BONNIE LOWENTHAL Assemblymember, 54[suP]th[/suP] District

I don't get it. (?)
'Been workin' here and in New Mexico since statehood (1912) and prior. We're right next door. What the problem?

We have some bleeding heart, do-gooder politicians that have discovered a solution to a problem that doesn't exist.

I think any attempt to persuade our politicians is futile. They have already made up their minds about whats best for us. Our best bet is with the courts.
I wouldn't count on it. Courts rarely overturn legislation. We tried that with the helmet law for motorcyclists. Passed while I was stationed there in 1992. We and then you (once I escaped) have been fighting it in court in California for eight years and you are no closer to freedom than you were then. Every time we got close the legislature would rewrite the laws to keep it intact. Same thing happened here in California. Courts generally defer to the legislature and I wouldn't plan on getting rid of this through the courts without a lengthy and expensive battle with uncertain results. You are much better off blocking the legislation by convincing enough legislators.

AB 1934 Action Alert! OPPOSITION letters on Letterhead needed now!

For those in possession of letters of opposition to this bill that are on letterhead or contain an official title/ position:

This is an action alert item: Any members who have in their possession letters of opposition on letterhead please email them to me or fax them to me immediately. If you would like to mail them please let me know. AB 1934 floor analysis has been revised and much more support included and only a couple oppositions. I will be making sure all Senate Members are made aware of the lack of documents in opposition. I have three from Saldana's binder which will be included in this.

Emailed and called last week

BTT

If you have not emailed or called, please do so now... And let us know you have, by posting your action in this thread.
Nice lady at the Mayor's office took my message asking to oppose AB1934. Then asked for my address and phone number (maybe the mayor's gonna call me !!!! ) Funnily enough it was the same lady who answered the phone when I called various assemblypersons so I think she got the message :) Keep up the fight guys

Fewer than 18 days seperate us from the outcome in the state senate. The last day bills may be amended on the floor is August 20th. And the last day for the Gov to sign or veto is September 30th.

The whole deal is making me queasy. I think focus should shift towards urging Arnold to respect the oldest form of amred defense, in anticipation that AB1934 will pass the senate.

Hope its not too late

While looking for a term paper topic I stumbled across this site and thread. Hope I'm not too late to protect my second amendment from freedom fearing tyrants.

Petition signed.

Well, the problem is with the liberal views towards criminals, and the revolving door jail system we have. Liberals need a scapegoat to blame for their failed policies, so they blame the citizenry.
