Sold one rifle, bought another but lost it in the river on the way home. The after effects of that Tsunami I guess.
Good day in all.

Ok... I know I am gonna regret asking but.... It has come to my attention on several threads that losing firearms to bodies of water is not so uncommon. So I have some inquiries.

#1 WHAT were you doing IN the body of water, where you were deep enough to lose a firearm..

#2 WHY were you in water(deep enough for you to lose a firearm) with the firearm in question?

#3 Could you tell me WHERE you lost this firearm? I know some people who go diving and I am thinking I dont need to keep buying guns if I can figure out where all you guys lose em at :banghead:

Not in the S Sound....

But took a trip up to Snoqualmie Falls and North Bend this afternoon... Walked around N Bend, the falls and the outlet mall for a few hours with no issues....

Cpr

Lacey Starbuck's this morning. I know what you're thinking who cares about Starbuck's anymore. Well this time there were 6 Olympia police officers, and I know they had to see me since they were facing my strong side. Also I was fairly loud and boisterous with the baristas. They said nothing.

Then it was off to South Bay Fire Dept for an all day CPR/First Aid class, and I had a couple of the older guys ask me about the gun, like what kind of paperwork or license is needed. Of course I explained that none is needed, however I have a CC so I don't need to mess with it when I get in and out of the car. The group were all part of the Search and Rescue community so most are pretty pro-gun.

OC chevron in dupont had some guy ask is that real and I replied a fake doesn't do any good he said " thats why I enlisted to fight for peoples rights and I'm glad to see some people are using them" I thanked him for his commitment and the service for our country shook hands and headed for Cabelas to show people how to gold pan there untill about 4:30 yesterday no coments except from one employee stated to I needed to check my weapon but I'm assumeing one of her managers told her that they don't need to be checked unless they will have it out of the holster. And I assured him if I had to remove it from the holster that every one would no. Cause I don't pull it out unless I have to use it. He said" I feel the same way" and then asked me if I needed help finding anything . I thanked him said no. and went on my way.

Oh gawd.... now you've done it.... here starts the argument whether the ferry is a vehicle or a highway! :D

Vehicle....licensed and operated under the state DOT, operated on various routes, by licensed skippers...like a bus and licensed bus drivers (specialty license?).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington_State_Ferries

and this:

http://apps.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=81.84

....but maybe this should go into it's own debate thread before we start tossing people overboard (as opposed to under the bus). :monkey

IMHO

Highway per Revised Code of Washington:

http://apps.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=47.17.080

And all the others, I just don't feel like looking up the highway numbers.

Exactly my point...you are describing the "routes" as in, a "northeasterly direction"....not the vessels licensed to operate on the route.

Ferry classes and names are:

Jumbo Mark II Class:

Puyallup
Tacoma
Wenatchee
Jumbo Class:
Spokane
Walla Walla
Super Class:
Elwha
Hyak
Kaleetan
Yakima
144 Auto Ferry (design phase)

Multiple unnamed vessels

Issaquah 130 Class:

Cathlamet
Chelan
Issaquah
Kitsap
Kittitas
Issaquah 100 Class:
Sealth
Evergreen State Class:
Evergreen State
Klahowya
Tillikum
Kwa-di Tabil Class:[6][7]
Chetzemoka [8]
Salish (under construction at Todd Shipyards; expected to enter service, 2011)
Kennewick (under construction at Todd Shipyards; expected to enter service, 2012)

Rhododendron Class:

Rhododendron

Hiyu Class:
Hiyu

I wonder if there is a state highway map that shows the Route 20

Gogodawgs, I was under the impression you cannot travel w/weapon on a ferry. This is obviosly incorrect.

Yes you can travel with a firearm (it is not a weapon until it is used, that is a poor term) on a ferry.

A ferry satisfies both the highway and a vehicle in my opinion. I would think that traveling on foot or bicycle a CPL would not be required if carried openly or unloaded or in a case. I would think that a CPL would be required loaded in your vehicle or concealed upon your person.

I can just see some guy now, sitting on his bicycle in one of those racks on the front of the transit buses...

"Why are you sitting on that bicycle instead of riding in the bus?"

"Because I don't have a CPL!"

I know you are kidding around.

For others, there is a significant difference between a ferry and any other vehicle that is used for daily transportation to and from a location on our highway system.

Wouldn't you agree...

All I will agree to is that there is evidence in law to support both sides of the argument... that the ferry is simply part of the highway system and not a vehicle and other places in the law suggest that it is a vehicle. Which means, really, I will agree to nothing!

Exactly!

p.s.

Will you come to the WAC gun show in Puyallup this weekend? remember... my treat!

Now you done it, are we going to debate about needing a CPL to ride the bike......

I would suggest a maritime map.

I am a soldier and always will be. For me, they will always be weapons.

weap·on (wpn) KEY
NOUN:
An instrument of attack or defense in combat, as a gun, missile, or sword. (or pen, pencil, hammer, high heeled shoe or my first wifes food)I added that part Zoology A part or organ, such as a claw or stinger, used by an animal in attack or defense.
A means used to defend against or defeat another: Logic was her weapon.

Grocery Outlet Bargain Market Near the intersection of 56th and South Tacoma Way...shopping. This is a good market, with a good mix of low prices and a pretty good wine selection....no issues or comments, spoke with the floor manager for a bit.

Starbucks next door for a 2 hour business meeting/discussion..

So last night I was doing the computer installs/upgrades at one of the state agencies in Tumwater while wearing an empty holster. The department manager comes up to me and and asks if my holster is for a .357? I told him its for a 1911 and we start talking guns. I told him my empty holster is my form of protest since I can't carry on the job at certain locations.
He thinks we should all be able to carry anywhere. All in all it was a good interaction and he asked lots of legal questions on carrying (OC & CC). On a break I brought him some info and he took a 2A Rally flier and posted it on the public company bulletin board.

Brown's Point Liquor Store....

Went in tonight to buy some spirits for the weekend. The proprietor was outside with some of his family (Daughter, Son in law, and grandkids)... I walked in to buy my bottle of Maker's Mark. The daughter came in to ring me up and just looked at me and didn't know how to ask me.... if that was really a firearm on my side. Yep, a quick talk about OC and the legality. She thought it was cool as she had served in the Army as a MP and off I went.
