Mark,
I know that you are against getting permits based on principle ("free men don't need permits to exercise a right") and I agree with you. However, my understanding is that Mississippi is a de facto licensed open carry state because every weapon is considered partially concealed. Given that your motorcycle is a motor vehicle and you can carry on (within) it any way you like, what do you do when you have to get off the bike (stop for gas, take a leak, etc.)?

Thanks.

Mississippi is NOT a licensed open carry state, as the attorney general claims there's no such thing as open carry. As you mentioned, they consider OC to be, in their twisted logic, partially concealed carry, hence, you need a concealed permit.
I know, it doesn't make sense to me, either. But, we are talking Mississippi law here. Go figure.

Usually, when we stop somewhere in MS, we're on private property, not an issue.
Most places I stop up there, I'm both known and have permission to be armed by the landowners.

Can't believe I missed this thread...Been too busy I guess.

Hi Mark, I've been down some of those tight roads in that area while in the big rig going to and from drilling rigs all around Liberty, anyway, I also ride and I believe you handled the situation as good if not better than many of us, as I don't know what I would've done and hope to never have to find out.

At speeds that slow (or even faster speeds), it would be extremely easy for someone to knock you off balance and cause you to lose control and it would be extremely hard to turn around in a 7' wide area...How do I know? I store my toy in an old shipping container (8'wide) and it is extremely hard to get even a bike as small &light as mine-DRZ400- turned around in that small of an area.

Did you call(or try to call)the law? ( I know cell service in that area is spotty).

One day, the sheriff, himself, accompanied by Murray Toney, came nosing around back in the woods, asking all sorts of very personal questions. I made it quite clear it was none of their business, something they didn't appreciate. Murray said something about having to call 911 in the future, I assured him he didn't have to worry about getting a call from me, ever.

Three years and counting, so far I've kept my promise.
