That reminds me.

We're gonna need a baptismal/induction ritual.

Of course, the font will be filled with Hoppes #9, or Breakfree (for the less traditional wing).

Ouch......

That might discourage potential converts........

We can just sprinkle a little hoppes on the forehead instead.... Nothing in scriptures specifically requires full immersion baptisms... The baptism takes place in your heart :)

"The most detailed version of the practice is by Cyril of Jerusalem who details how ointment or oil was "symbolically applied to the forehead, and the other organs of sense" and that the "ears, nostrils, and breast were each to be anointed." Cyril states that the "ointment is the seal of the covenants" of baptism and God’s promises to the Christian who is anointed. Cyril taught that being "anointed with the Holy anointing oil [Chrism] of God" was the sign of a Christian (Christos means "anointed"), and a physical representation of having the Gift of the Holy Spirit (Holy Ghost), and it retains this meaning in Catholicism and Orthodoxy today. He says, "Having been counted worthy of this Holy Chrism, ye are called Christians, verifying the name also by your new birth. For before you were deemed worthy of this grace, ye had properly no right to this title, but were advancing on your way towards being Christians."(On the Mysteries 3.5)[2]"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holy_Oil_(Christianity)

So we can use just a few drops of CLP to do the "anointing".

A religion based on guns, can have Christian values, but I am not talking about adding to, or rewriting Christianity or the bible, I am talking about a whole new religion. that requires the open carry of a firearm just like Sikhs carrying a kirpan.

Really just looking for that loophole.

I know I know, we create a state and then create myriads of laws to control the people then we anoint certain people to wear a costume, carry a shiny symbol of authority, grant the anointed to have wide immunity and the ability to carry weapons the general population can't even after they are retired or are visiting a similar state that has set up a similar religion..........

That's why I called it a font instead of a pool.

The five Pillars of open carry

1)Confession of the constitution
2)Regular practice of carry
3)Fasting during daylight hours of the SHOT show
4)Charitable giving of holsters and ammunition to those less fortunate
5)The Pilgrimage to kentucky at least once in their lifetime to sample that bourbon...

Dry counties?

That suggestion will get you banned for life sir!
#5 Not to just sample the bourbon, but also go to the Knob Creek shoot. Knob Creek will replace Jerusalem. The little drummer boy will have a full auto Thompson, rata tat tat.

I'm with MKEgal on this one:

And could we canonize as well? For starters, the members on this forum that have been (figuratively) flogged and (sometimes literally) beaten by an ailing justice system.

Yep. Birthdays of Sergei Gavrilovich Simonov (SKS and its derivatives), Mikhail Timofeyevich Kalashnikov (AK 47 and its derivatives), Eugene Stoner (AR 15 and derivatives), and of course, Sergei Ivanovich Mosin and brothers Émile and Léon Nagant (Mosin-Nagant, and its mods/derivatives; I include it here because it has been objectively :D determined to be the most superior rifle of all time: http://7.62x54r.net/MosinID/MosinHumor.htm)

Oh, I got it, I got it!: "...And there shall be TWO of every plate, and TWO of every platter, and likewise, TWO of every drink, that ye may always remember the 2nd, which doth keep thy liberty from those that would consume thee"... :p

Forget not that John Browning's middle name was: Moses!

I would also propose John Garand and Charlton Heston (who once played Moses in some movie or other :) ).

Or just immerse yourself in ammo. Immerse yourself in your cache.

I'll repeat: Dry counties? Hint, there are dry counties.

Another hint, unless you get a religious exemption, we all, as good church members, would be violating the law in a dry county, albeit for a noble cause.....

All we need now is a name and people to sign up for it to have it 'recognized' by our wonderful governmental boobs/officials.

Dude, you're taking this way too seriously.

As an alternative to dry counties, we can add a little paganism to our religion if we liken Johnny Walker Gold Label to ambrosia; and, just enjoy it locally.

(Drat! Now, I'm thirsty.) :D (Excuse me a minute.)

ETA: Ahhhhh. Much better. The scotch was gone, but there was rum left. :)

With absolutely no intention of turning this into a religion thread, this might be interesting

The Westminster Larger Catechism actually addresses self defense and that of the innocent, with Scripture proofs.

Q. 134. Which is the sixth commandment?
A. The sixth commandment is, Thou shalt not kill.m

If the original word was used Ratzah (instead of kill) no further defining or references are needed as Ratzah means to murder. Therfore, Thou shalt not murder needs no explanation as murder is much more clear than kill.

This got me thinking: what do we do for scriptures? If we want to be taken seriously (;)), and get to drink in dry counties without any trouble, we need some doctrine. Major recognized religions have doctrine, be it a characteristic book or set of teachings, so people will wonder what ours is.

For instance, the Hindu family of religions have certain emphasized scriptures, like the Vedas, the Upanishads, the Mahabharata, the Brahmana, etc. The Jewish faith has the Tanakh (made up of most of the books of what Christians know as the Old Testament), Christianity revolves around the Bible, Islam has the Quran, Mormons have the Book of Mormon, Atheists have Darwin's On the Origin of Species, and the Jedi Church has the original Star Wars trilogy digitally remastered in High-Def on Blu-Ray with the extended director's cut and deleted scenes. :dude:

I would imagine that books on basic firearms safety, as well as marksmanship and basic reloading are in order, but what would you all say to the U.S. Constitution and a book by Jeff Cooper? And do we need to narrow it down to just the one, or should we compile excerpts from his various books?

Now, you've done it. The question isn't which scriptures, but who gets to decide which scriptures ala Council of Nicaea.

Here comes the schism, and we're not even established, yet.

:D
