I'm just now starting to look into this, but apparently from documents both here on OCDO and other sources, Colorado's preemption of firearms has suffered a judicial defeat that has rendered it useless.

From http://www.opencarry.org/co.html, we have:

"Colorado was once one of our "Gold Star" open carry states. However, Denver filed and won a suit challenging the states excellent preemption law. Consequently, both open carry and unlicensed open car carry in Denver are prohibited. There are reports that other localities are planning to follow suit."

From http://www.coloradoceasefire.org/munilaws.htm, we have:

"Concealed Carry Bans: Aurora, Boulder, Broomfield, Colorado Springs, Denver, Englewood, Lakewood, Littleton, Longmont, Northglenn, Pueblo, Thornton, Westminster, Wheat Ridge"

I haven't read the details on how they lost the lawsuit, but it would seem to behoove us to learn about it, so we can protect our own preemption law here in Virginia.

Some Colorado folks on the national thread covering this story are saying that Aurora does not ban concealed carry. I provided this link, hopefully will get more info soon.

I misread the link in the earlier post, it was a description of all the "pre-preemption" laws from around the state. Apparently only Denver has specific laws with regard to concealed carry.

From what I understand: City of Denver, Denver County and county property outside the expected mets and bounds.

Funny this accident http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/lookout/pickup-truck-crash-texas-photo-144056003.html killed more people and its not top billing like the shooting? Wonder why that is...<sarcasm>

Obvious answer is that no gun(s) were involved.

A pickup truck carrying 23 people veered off a Texas highway and crashed late Sunday, killing 14 and injuring 9 others.

Exactly my point. Sometimes the way the media acts in situations like this turn my stomach...

Tidal waves have killed many times the people than 9/11...but they're soon forgotten while we keep harping on being attacked.

It's sad in a way. When there is a tragedy, my first thoughts aren't about the families left behind, rather how big a slice the nuts are going to try to take out of a shrinking supply of freedom.

Political agendas and sensationalism govern what we see and hear.

I believe it and I think Giuliani knows about it through some secret government oracle and knows all of it's gonna flow south.

Remember him saying "Virginia should be proud to take our trash".

We already have entirely too much of it.......and it's getting piled higher and deeper.

I thought the EXACT same thing! Man how many lawsuits should be file for failure to enforce their no gun policy and the emotional and physical trauma that situation caused all those patrons! I'm sure they'll try to sign away liability somehow. But its going to be tough (if everyone sues) for that theater to keep the doors open..

Back to "User's" question, hopefully a family will file a lawsuit against the theater for their policy that forbade patrons from exercising their 2nd amendment rights and carrying a weapon into the theater that could have saved countless lives.

Now correct me if im wrong but there is a simple answer to dealing with this threat. MAKE TIDAL WAVES ILLIGAL! And we will all be protected from tidal waves right? Only thing is this will take away my right to belly flop into the ocean :(
