They did, but the feds dropped charges of mail fraud in exchange for a guilty plea on the stolen Beretta shotgun and a promise of restitution to the insurance company. This would be from one of the same federal persecuting attorneys who would make sure you or I spent at least ten years in Club Fed for what Balentine did.

At least he's now a federal felon and (hopefully) nobody will ever pin a badge on his chest again.

The taxpayer shouldn't be made to foot the bill for the actions of crooked public serpents er servants, go after their bonds instead:

Thank you for the informative post and I like where you are going with your theory, however the issue is simply that the individual officer usually gets fired from their job, in that case they are BROKE hence no income to lien or if they chose they can file for bankruptcy again you receive NOTHING..

Suing the agency may encourage them to hire more competent people. While also waking up the tax payer to get involved in the hiring process of their agents..

Keep in mind that when suing someone, " you can't get blood out of a rock".. Go after the money...

basically with the 2 articles I quote you go after the public official's bond or I think the agency's bond because the agency can no longer function without it útil they pay for the lien you attached to their bonding company. Well that's to my basic limited understanding. I haven't done this myself yet.

As I understood it, that bond was there to pay you after you filed suit and was awarded a judgement against the person/corp/business by the jury or judge.

They are similar to an insurance policy but with a substantially more limited extent of coverage and basically someone else (corp or person) saying if he cannot pay the judgement I will.

Like often said, IAMAL. But I was one for near 15 years before I retired. And did it a time or 2. Not much more but once or twice, IIRC.
