From Target.com:

our position regarding firearms in our stores

While we continue to follow local laws regarding "open carry" policies, we also respectfully request that guests not bring firearms to Target, even in communities where it’s permitted. Your cooperation helps us fulfill our goal to create an atmosphere of family-friendly shopping that’s safe and inviting for our guests and team members.

I plan to visit Target this weekend oc. See if they ignore it like Starbucks does.
I was at Target on Forest Hill at Chippenham Pkwy yesterday and OCing. Interacted with several manager types as I sought to buy the same as their on-line price. Accomplished that w/o any negativity.

No offense, but all the 'Target" stuff should be moved to the thread that already exists [Here in NV]. :/

Prolly. But man this thread would be so boring if all we talked about was how nothing happened as we oc'd today. lol That's a good thing.

I just wanted to set the stage for the coming oc experience at Target as we kinda did with Starbucks back when. Will post about it after....

Hey pal, I already mention that this thread would be more useful in addressing what DID happen as opposed to what didn't... and I was shot down. heh.

Didn't mean it like that. Sorry.:(

I meant to say that seeing non-events was reassuring as a newcomer.
If anything, I'm thinking about prefacing my posts where something DOES occur with its own title, and leaving the non-events without any title (they are, after all, not newsworthy:)). That way, anyone perusing the threads will know to skip to the titled threads for all the action.:)

For instance, I will OC at a public 4th of July celebration at Tempe Town Lake in Tempe, AZ. The website suggests firearms will be prohibited, yet A.R.S.* 13-3102.01 states:

ARS 13-3102.01 said:
A. If an operator of a public establishment or a sponsor of a public event requests that a person carrying a deadly weapon remove the weapon, the operator or sponsor shall provide temporary and secure storage. The storage shall be readily accessible on entry into the establishment or event and allow for the immediate retrieval of the weapon on exit from the establishment or event.
B. This section does not apply to the licensed premises of any public establishment or public event with a license issued pursuant to title 4. [Title 4 deals with "Alcoholic Beverages; not applicable since minors are expected to be in attendance]
C. The operator of the establishment or the sponsor of the event or the employee of the operator or sponsor or the agent of the sponsor, including a public entity or public employee, is not liable for acts or omissions pursuant to this section unless the operator, sponsor, employee or agent intended to cause injury or was grossly negligent.
D. For the purposes of this section, "public establishment" and "public event" have the same meanings prescribed in section 13-3102.

In this case, I expect some (unlawful) resistance should a staff member see me OC, so my post will likely bear a title along the lines of "Tempe unlawfully tried to disarm me".

Read it for yourself here:

Well, even thing nothing negative happened today, I have to mention this:

I shopped at Target today, mainly to say FU to their non-ban gun ban, and nobody said anything (because no one but the PR nanny actually cares). But of course, one fine citizen saw I was carrying and complimented me on it. I think carrying like we do every day, despite these stupid bans is the best way to defeat them. Like the ridiculous gun laws in CT, it's time to 'opt out'. I'll shop at Target, but I'm taking my freakin' gun.

I usually conceal when I'm going on a repair job to a customer that doesn't know me or didn't hire me through my sponsorship of Nevada Shooters.

But today, I'm headed to an RV that is rented out to a Chinese family here on vacation. I'm meeting them where they are parked in the lot of the Travel Lodge on the Strip, across from Aria. Because I was ready to conceal, I had the XD-S in an IWB. At the last minute, I decided to leave my shirt tucked in and go with it. They are tourists after all; might as well welcome them to NV.

As soon as I park next to the coach, of course, the attendant for the Travel Lodge is making sure I'm not just stealing their parking. He's got no problem with me parking next to the coach and working on it, as we are talking as I'm getting out of the truck and going to the other side to get my tool bag. As I'm waiting for the tourists to come downstairs, he comes back in just two minutes to ask me all kinds of questions about carrying firearms and shooting. He has a pistol and after finding out I also do the training, he wants his permit and some training for the family and friends.

The tourists are a very nice family, and I felt bad for them because it turns out they have some electrical issues on the coach that is preventing the AC units from getting power. So it's not an AC problem, which is why I was sent for. They have to get a coach power specialist out there.

But the ones who spoke English were asking me about the gun and carrying them in America. I welcomed them to Nevada. I noticed a couple of them took pictures from my good side while I was working in the panel. I'll probably be on the Chinese Internet soon.

Understanding your motivation however for some reason I personally really like the "how did it go" format. We get constant hammering by negative gun issues from every possible media source constantly every day 24 hours a day. In my opinion the sometimes side track ok with me. With self policing of posters saying hey heard enough on this, back on track, works for me.

OC today:

1. My wife's doctor's office, Mountain View medical office building, Tenaya/Cheyenne. Weapons of all kinds prohibited sign and picture of gun with red circle/slash on front window by entrance. No problem carrying into the building or inside the doctor's office.

2. IHOP, Centennial Center/Azure.

3. Bonanza gift store, Sahara/Las Vegas Blvd. Wife was shopping for Las Vegas trinkets to take to her family and friends when she visits the Philippines in a couple of weeks. Two guards inside, but neither of them ever saw my gun, even though I passed by them two or three times. So much for their observation skills.

It's stuff like this that makes me want to take the OC Cowboy stuff live to the Strip and Downtown (hmm, where can I park when open carrying???)

I want Americans and foreign tourists alike to know about their God-given rights (plus the whole girls/money thing). We have beggars, showgirls, superheroes, gyros (see what I did there?), magicians, etc. What we don't have is positive role models. Nevada is a state about freedom. Why not show people our own element of freedom?

I want tourists to see Americans in action. I want Chinese and European tourists to see what it's like for the basic unit of government. They can marvel and take pictures, but I want to say it loud and clear, this is a free state in a free country. Freedom looks like Downtown and the Strip on a Friday night. Freedom is being able to protect yourself.

Yes, we should do the Strip more often. I like smaller groups myself, even pairs. PM me and we'll see what we can do. I'll wear the big stainless .45 DA revolver with the red/white/blue grips. It has my nicest holster and belt, too.

Sounds like a plan! Guess it's time to buy cowboy boots now...

Make no mistake The Station casinos are NOT friendly to us. You just did not get noticed.

True. I haven't been noticed the three times I have been inside Sante Fe OCing. The first time, I must have passed by 3-4 guards during my time there without any of them taking notice. The last two times, security never came into the area where I was. On the 4th, my wife and I went to to top level of the parking garage to watch the fireworks. There were a lot of brand new cars parked up there. A guard came up on his bike and asked everyone to leave because that level was being leased by a car dealership to store inventory. I was standing right next to him, and he didn't notice my firearm, strong side toward him.

I've carried inside Fashion Mall, which is supposedly anti-OC. Again, I had passed by 3 guards without them noticing my weapon. In my experience, security guards are pretty worthless in the places I have OC'd when it comes to observation skills.

Armed Forces Recruitment Center

I was going into the Jimmy John's at Lake Mead/95 a few days ago and passed a sign on the window of the Armed Forces Recruitment Center that said "No Weapons Allowed."

I was curious if anyone knew if that sign had any force of law or was just like the majority of other signs in Nevada (no force of law)?

Just curious if the fact that all of the employees in there are military recruiters (federal employees) made a difference or not.

I'm betting the sign has no force of law, but I just thought I'd ask.

Jason
