Carried my G17 into Sparks PD, the same Glock they stole from me and held hostage for 709 days. Lots of people waiting in line behind me. Non-sworn admin person said they don't handle perjury reports. I called BS on that (Sparks PD has jurisdiction over felonies committed in Sparks) and she said a supervisor would be out. I said it better not be Dyer. No supervisor came out. Finally got a report form and decided it would be better to make a detailed report at home.

Inquired about my camera theft report, found it the case was referred to Reno PD and closed. They will re-open it when I give them some video.

While I was waiting for a supervisor, a young adult kid came running in, out of breath, politely asked if I was waiting in line, then dealt with the admin person at the window. He later came out the elevator with a brown bag and it was clear he was retrieving his property. When I left, I saw him at the bus stop and asked if he just got out of jail. Yes. Need a ride? Yes. He said he saw my "concealed" gun and thought I was a cop. :( I said it's not concealed, I'm sure as hell no cop, and I know how it feels to get out of jail with only the clothes on your back and no ride home. I gave him a ride across town, warned him about the corrupt police in this town, gave him $20, and asked him to stay out of trouble.

Old beer stories.

When I was in the navy, in San Diego, 1971-1975
I bought beer at SafeWay,
It was called Brown Derby, in quarts, cheap, but it was beer!
Billy Beer - the worst beer ever, whether you were OCing or not.

Wow, haven't seen that in forever. Bet anyone under 40 has no idea about Jimmy's drunken brother. (tongue in cheek)
The Carter boys - one was into beer, public urination, and belchin'; the other was into cigars, public denial and Mon.................never mind, my bad.

Their momma must have been so proud.

Re: NV OC - how did it go?

The only reason I know anything about Billy beer is because summertime was trying to sell a case on one of those reality auction/pawn shows.

Was at CiCi's pizza today located at Nellis/Stewart. I was not OCing however another guy was. A black guy with his family, I would have said something to him but he was eating with his family and left not to long after we got there. Was it anybody here?

Not me (I'm on the NW), but I do oc at Cici's all the time. NEVER an issue. Actually the most positive experience I've ever had oc. A page or two back I posted about it.

Re: NV OC - how did it go?

Went to Vegas vapor emporium again today to pick up some more liquid for my e cig. While I was paying a young guy asked "is that a sig?" I replied that it was and I liked how small it was because it was comfortable in the heat. He had never seen an open carrier before and just got his ccw. On his way out I told him to check out the site. We'll see if he comes around.

Ya know I said it before, but it bears repeating. They'll have to pry my gun from my cold dead hands but my hands will be cold from holding a frosty mug of my favorite IPA (beer).

And dare I admit it, the one place that is not oc friendly but that I continue to go regularly is the Drafthouse. "Hi, my name is Mike and I'm a Dave Otto beer addict." -So Ashamed:cry:

Drafthouse - NW Vegas

I just sent this email to the Drafthouse where Rob is the CEO and Kirt the owner:

Hey Rob,

Just wanted to see if you'd consider it yourself and pass along a little something to Kirt.

I know I had asked about open carry in the Drafthouse before and you had indicated that you guys didn't want it. I just wanted to point something out in case you hadn't thought about it. Not allowing open carry doesn't keep people from carrying a weapon into the Drafhouse. They'll just conceal it. And a problem with concealed carry that so many people seem to not get is that if it is concealed then there is NO WAY of knowing who IS carrying, i.e. a bad guy. At least with open carry you can pretty well bet that if someone is bold enough to let everyone know he has a firearm, he's unlikely up to no good since bad guys don't typically want to give anyone a "warning". And if a bad guy should see patrons open carrying, chances are he'll do his crimes someplace else. I mean just look at the places with mass shootings - schools & post offices. Places that don't allow guns. Or in other words, places with no resistance for the bad guy. It's not like they're shooting up police stations and gun shops.

I know it's your bar and your rules and I love the place so I abide by them. It's just been awhile since we visited this topic and seeing as how open carry really seems to be gaining momentum in Nevada since it became legal throughout the state and that I open carry EVERYWHERE except my favorite joint, I thought it couldn't hurt to mention it again.

And if you're interested, lots of uneventful stories of open carry here: http://forum.opencarry.org/forums/showthread.php?90751-NV-OC-how-did-it-go&p=1976136#post1976136

Thanks,

-Mike

Just got a reply and I need to make a correction. Rob is the CFO, not CEO. But I do believe he is the top of the chain.

Mike,

I appreciate the info. I will share it with the crew, but as of this moment, it is status quo on this policy.

Thank you for your business. It is greatly appreciated.

...and many more posted about on that web link I sent you last email.

Thanks again

And I will send him a note letting them know I have never set foot in the place. And wont. And also of the 8 to 10 other folks, I know that we eat out with and or have a drink with weekly, that wont be in either.

Ya know, used to be a time when folks wouldn't let black people into their establishments even though they were law-abiding citizens doing nothing illegal, immoral or otherwise harmful to anyone.

Perhaps one day when I'm out open carrying I'll decide to take the bus and then I'll refuse to give up my seat on the bus and really get this movement pumping.

I wish to hell I could figure out how much money I have spent at PT's since my event at the draghthouse a little over a year ago. I'm sure the number is staggering and might convince him to reconsider. Actually, come to think of it, maybe I don't want to know how much money I've spent on beer over the past year or so...
