Open carried at BassPro. They had a good supply of 40cal 100rd box $37. Did not see a limit. No 9mm. They did have some 223 did not check the prices. Open carried in Joann’s Marks St and Sunset, in Mimi’s Stephaney and Sunset no issues.
Interesting conversation in the Pahrump Wal-Mart. Saw a young man carrying. As usual, I start up a conversation and ask if he had check out OC.org. He was there with his pregnant wife and said he just purchased the firearm he was carrying for his wife. I said cool. Nice looking firearm. Next thing I know he carefully pulls it out of the holster unloads it right there in the isle and handed it to me. I was watching him very closely as he grabbed it. Removed it and empted it in a way I believe would have been acceptable in any range. However in the middle of Wal-Mart?

Why not? It's like doing it in the parking lot or the car... either way he did it safely.

A firearm should never be handled in public unless you need to use it. Secondly the guy handed over his firearm to a stranger??? Wow! These are the kind of things that would lead to
a store instituting a no firearms policy. 28kfps I hope you corrected his behavior.

True... I was thinking about safety but am glad that you reminded me of what the store may say.

Legal, but very bad form.

Do not, repeat, do not unnecessarily handle your firearm - LEAVE IT HOLSTERED!

I was a tossed a little by his action and a little uncomfortable with the whole thing, wanted to end the conversation on a positive note and move on with my mom. I just handed quickly back to him. I did not really say anything to him about his action.
One of the reasons I posted he did say he would check out the site. Hopping he does and sees seasoned OCers response to the posting. Though he felt comfortable with me armed, being there with my handicap mom and us the only ones in the isle. However, I believe he broke what I conceder an unwritten gun rule of never removing a firearm from the holster in public unless getting ready to shot or at a range. Not to mention disarming himself while standing next to a person that is armed. As pro-gunners and OCing we automatically become stewards for pro gun issues. Our actions in public can have a long range affect. One public O crap!!!! Will wipe out thousands of add-a-boys.

I don't know. On one hand I commend him for treating it as nothing special. That is afterall the foundation of oc - to make it seem normal. But then on the other hand, it may be a bit much to expect of the public just yet.

Either way, it bothers me not. It reminds me of a time I was @ Mardi Gras in N.O. and the show COPS was there taping. My buddy and I were talking with one of New Orleans finest. We got to talking guns and he actually, right there on the street with the night crowd that is Mardi Gras in N.O., took his firearm out of his holster, unloaded it and handed it to my buddy and I to check out. I kid you not. And we thought that was awesome.

So, in as much as we all have our own opinions, in the end, big deal and to each his own.

Yesterday on my day off I had to go to base to do some extra stuff at work. As I left the house I thought to myself "Self, you should leave the gun in the house. You never know if your vehicle will get searched on the way into the base." So I turned around and went back into the house to deposit my gun. Low and behold, for the first time in my entire career, my vehicle was subjected to a random vehicle search upon entry to the base. The security forces member asked me for consent to search my vehicle. I asked "What if I don't consent?" and his reply was that I could lose my driving privileges on base for a year, and one or two other things. I guess it's my fault for not reading the AFI (air force version of the law) before hand, so he let me borrow his pen and I wrote down the AFI regarding vehicle inspections and allowed him to search my vehicle. I wouldn't really call it a search though, because he just walked around my vehicle with all of the doors/compartments open. If I had a gun/bomb/meth pipe/dwarf baby hidden under my seat or under the clothes I had in my trunk he would have never found it.

Today was a great day though. My girlfriend and I went to a place called verrazano pizza just south of rainbow and 95 (240 South Rainbow Boulevard). Let me tell you, the pizza was FANTASTIC! The guy behind the counter (the owner I think) was INCREDIBLY nice and when we ordered a medium pizza he said "How bout you get a large for the same price?" I love leftovers, so of course we agreed. He the proceeds to grab a ball of dough, flatten it a little and tosses it right in front of us. after maybe a 10 minute wait my girlfriend and I were eating the second best pizza I have ever eaten in my life with a side of home made ranch dressing the owner made himself that morning. If you like pizza, this is the place to go!

I'm retired USAF but wasn't a cop. I did however work for Sec-tek and TW & Company as a base security guard for Mountain Home AFB for about 5 years. You get the lazy cops that do the random inspections but I can tell you our crew have found guns, crack pipes and drugs, stolen items as well as seen some really crazy crap. Let's say I quit ordering pizza after seeing the vehicles and hygien of the delivery people...ewwwww

Re: NV OC - how did it go?

With my father, my son, and my great-nephew. OC'ed at the Silver Saver (Shell station) and Family Dollar in Silver Springs just before going to the range for a couple of hours. Now home to offload and head to Wal-Mart. No issues at any stores, none will be expected at WM.

ETA: Just finished at Fallon WM and Frontier Liquor. No issues at either place.

Sounds like some great pizza! Did you have your firearm and if so did he notice?

Yeah I was armed. I can't say for absolute certain that he saw it, but im pretty sure he did. Really though the customer service was just as fantastic as the pizza.

Absolutely uneventful. I really gotta give credit to all the new NRA shirts I've been wearing while oc. It lets people know that you are OPEN carrying to make a point. It answers the dumb question of why. It throws it point blank in their faces. I heard one person yesterday behind me say to someone they were with, "Oh my, look at that, wow."

The shirt yesterday said "We The People... Are Packing Heat - NRA" with a picture of two pistols on it. Pretty obvious.

Lowes on Centennial. Got questioned by an older couple from AZ., "So what's that on your hip". The guy asked if I got questioned at the entrance. The lady said she saw folks oc in AZ. They asked if I had a license to carry, what was I carrying, blah blah blah.

I had the time so I told 'em that it was legal in NV to carry it oc if it was legal for you to own it. They said something along the lines of, "well that's really something to just carry a gun around like that openly out in the public." I told them, "Yep, it's on purpose. Just trying to get people to be responsible for their own safety - learn to defend yourself and don't count on others to do that for you."

The lady then said, "In this world I can understand that, but don't get me started." Not knowing if she agreed or not, thinking she was about to be the fourth person this week to bring up Zimmermen (which I care absolutely nothing about) and really feeling that I had enough anyhow I told them I gotta get back to what I was doing and have a good day. All in all, just fine.

Oh, and apparently they did not notice the "Don't Tread On Me" shirt I was wearing.

Off the subject of oc, but maybe not: I just added a bumper sticker to my car that reads, "Your Choice: Gun Owner (or) Victim". Pretty much sums it up. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0073N6ZN8/ref=oh_details_o08_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Interesting. You would think being from AZ that they would be knowledgeable about firearms carry being they not only have OC but Constitutional carry over there.

Well, he definitely was not aware. She seemed to be. But not sure since she was the one that initiated the contact with, "So what's on your hip?" Maybe just being friendly. Idk. I don't ask other oc'ers that. I treat it as being normal.

Still haven't convinced any others to do it. Those that have soon quit and either are or are going to cc.

And to be completely honest, when he asked what happened to my face as I'm scared up pretty good, I decided to end it, but nicely. I don't ask people how they got fat or how they got cancer or how they lost a limb or how they went blind, etc. People can be so rude. I'm trying real hard Ringo....

Honestly if I thought your facial scars weren't disfiguring and made you look more like a badass I'd ask too lol

Actually TBG. that is one of the reasons for "Constitutional Carry", is to have everybody conceal and not carry like the honest people. it is pushing a privilege over a right.

BTW. i consider the OC as the constitutional carry

No. Constitutional Carry removes the permit requirement, restoring the former privilege into proper status as a Right.
