The effect on New Zealand law he considered a foregone conclusion, describing gun owners there as "a beaten, miserable bunch of baby boomers, who have long since given up the fight."

Kiwis can hold their elected reps to account if they have the inclination to do so...they do not, and will not...being subjects of the Crown...comfortable in their serfdom they are.

Contrast this with the foundational document of the US being passed by an overwhelming majority of the People’s representatives, having only ever been changed (including the case of our own Bill of Rights) by another overwhelming majority of the People’s representatives.

Ceding authority to government should be hard. Changing the authority ceded should be hard.

Did not claim that NZ's "Bill of Rights" was not a manifestation of the Crown. Simply provided the link as the result of a wee bit of research on NZ and their citizen's ability to affect their political destiny. Kiwis most certainly control their destiny and their elected reps...if they choose to exercise their right...however unlikely the proposition.

The gov, no gov, grants the RTKABA . its a preexisting right of all people world wide.

Going along with " well their gov doesn't have a 2a is falling down the rabbit hole gov wants people fall into. That any gov has any authority over a right that preexited it by a thousand yrs or so is ridiculous on its face.

Nz have as much right to be armed as we do. They seem to be lacking in the backbone dept though.

Not sure I understand.

Yes RTKABA is a God given or natural right as old as man. Its a right all humans have at birth.

Folks in NZ have that same right.

So I don't understand why you state that's the reason its on out constitution and not theirs.

If the only check on government is a majority vote, then that same majority vote can be used to suppress the Rights of others. We are seeing the exact danger that democracy (versus a constitutional republic) poses in what is happening in New Zealand.

We must protect our Republic as a shining example to the rest of the world as to how government is instituted in a way that subordinates itself to the People and protects the People’s Rights.

Freedom, I take slight exception to one part of your statement - "Be happy". In the second paragraph of the Declaration, the first sentence ends withe "pursuit" of happiness but not necessarily with the attainment of same.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
In talking about those "natural laws", even an ameoba has the genetic instructions to eat, produce waste, procreate, and to defend their existence. All living things have those same basic functions but how they do so increases in complexity as the organisms become more advanced. Chimps and gorillas use sticks and stones (or brute force). Aborigines, Native Americans, African Bushmen, etc., use those but also use boomerangs, spears, and bows & arrows. Modern humans use firearms.
Governments didn't "give" us those rights. They were just codified in the BoR and aknowledged their previous existence.

couple of extinct saber tooth tiger dry humping a flying hippo scribe on the wall is not a country Constitution. Beside they were too busy doing commercials for Geico
