President of the Kansas State Rifle Association Patricia Stoneking just posted this alert on Facebook. she is requesting people give a respectful call to these two Legislators and urge them to support SB45. they are both in the committee that will vote on the bill tomorrow morning 3/17/2015

I just left them both a nice voice message

SB 45 is for constitutional permitless carry

***URGENT AND CRITICALLY IMPORTANT***

I need you all to get on the phone today and call Rep. Janice Pauls at 785-296-7688 and Rep. John Ewy (pronounced Avee, long "A") at 785-296-7105 and strongly but POLITELY urge them to vote YES on SB45 tomorrow.

Talking Points -

1. KS has always had open carry. This simply allows gun to be covered by shirt or jacket and put in a purse. Already allowed to carry concealed in a vehicle.

2. Over a dozen states have no training when issuing permits yet we allow all of those people to carry when visiting KS but our own citizens cannot.

4. Some states also have no shooting requirement as part of their classes.

5. Carrying is a lifestyle and people will seek out the training and information they need. Government should trust its citizens unless given a reason not to.

6. Background checks are performed when guns are purchased.

7. Drug Cartels, criminals and MS-13 flooding over our open borders. We need to be able to protect ourselves and that includes people who cannot afford the high cost of obtaining a permit.

8. Insurance department did research – rates will NOT go up. Same claim in 2006 and didn’t happen. Hasn't happened in any other state.

9. Still need a permit to travel outside of KS or in a school zone.

10. Must be legal to possess in order to carry.

11. Over a dozen states have this same legislation in process right now.

12. In 2010 89% (all time record vote nationwide) of the voters affirmed the right to bear arms and added to KS constitution - Article IV specifically.

Please report your results in a comment. No other comments on this post please.

Go KS! It will be nice to not have to be "force" to "show my papers" when I'm visiting family there.

Way to go KS! I wish WI would follow shortly behind, but that's just wishful thinking.
