If you feel like making the trip to Concord, Eagle Guns has decent prices. I've been there a couple times, and I believe that it's $20 an hour, $15 per half hour. But the reason why I go here over other places, is they have ridiculously cheap ammo prices compared to all the other gun stores I've been too, and they're even equal to most online stores. You can usually get decent quality ammo for the the same price as winchester's cheap white box. And best of all, they're OC friendly.

David

OH Schweeeet...I'll actually be in Concord for the weekend anyway... Its hard to find cheap ammo in NC.... I will check it out. Thanks!!

Wal-mart is better than any gun store imo.

+1 Get most of my ammo from wally world. 45 Auto has been more readily available as of late.

Would also like to report that the significant other and myself made our first venture to Panera Bread in Morehead City today, OC of course. Not many people there. Few looks was about all. Decent selection on menu. Will have to go back a time or two more before adding to the friend-or-foe map. Also stopped in at Chopper Toyz to check on tires for the bike. The owner and I talked for a moment, and I found out he has his CHP, so that told me he is 2A friendly. I added them to the map a while back.

Check out georgia-arms for very competitively priced ammo - shipping free on qualified orders too.

Thanks for the link Grapeshot. They're .40 is about $5-$6 cheaper for a hundred round box than winchester's whitebox ammo. Not a huge difference when shooting small amounts, but it adds up to a huge difference over time. I wonder what "qualified orders" amounts to though. Because with shipping, the costs may even out. I'll have to check it out.

"Qualified Orders" on the east coast are $500 minimum.

Appreciate that Ruger. I'll do a mock order later to see what the shippings going to be for my area. That way I can tell if I'm better off just sticking with buying local. I do like their prices though.

I avoid the shipping cost 100% and guarantee there will be no "out of stock" situation.
Georgia Arms always has a table at our local gun shows, so I request that I pick up from them at the show. They put my order on their truck going to the show - it's there waiting to be picked up when the show opens w/o shipping fee. :D

Indeed, at the recent dale City show a gentleman sold me a $12.00 knife for $8.00 just because I was working the VCDL table.

I am sure there are similar benefits when working a table at a show for Grass Roots North Carolina

You saved $8.00 on admission + $4.00 on the knife = enough to buy dinner afterward.

Plus you got to talk about your favorite subject for 4 hours!

I was out eating lunch at Subway today, and decided to go next door to Great Clips to get a haircut. When I was there, I made sure that the cover they throw over you was lifted up off my right side to fully expose my firearm. Didn't want to be charged with concealing a firearm without a permit if a cop just happened to walk in. However, I guess technically it still isn't visible from 3 sides.. So many ways they can be an ass if they want to.. But anyway, I've carried into there before and the ladies there have gotten used to it. But today there was some contractor there doing work on the building and he just happened to want to confront me. I was standing at the front counter ready to pay, and he said "You'd better be a cop, right?" And I could just tell by his voice that no matter how polite I was, that he already had me in his sights. However, I just smiled and said "No sir." So he replied with "Then why the hell do you have that thing on your hip?" So I smiled again and started to explain to him about how North Carolina is an Open Carry state and that it's perfectly legal to do so. But he cut me off about halfway through my explanation saying "Yeah, I know. But citizens usually chose to cover those things up." To which I just simply said "Some do, yes" And being confrontational once again, he said "I'm not comfortable with you being in here" and then started to walk back past the chairs looking around. So I asked him "Do you work here?" He said "No, just doing contract work on the building". So I asked the lady who cut my hair, "Do you have a problem with me being here?" She just smiled and said No. By this point I was kind of fed up with his attitude, so while still smiling, i just said "Well they don't have a problem with me being here, and you don't work here, so if you have any issues you're more than welcome to step outside and wait for me to finish paying the lady, and then you can come back in again." He just walked off towards the back and occasionally gave me dirty looks for the few minutes it took to finish everything up.

It took some gritting of the teeth, but I think I managed to not show my irritation that much.

Good job... I think you handled it well.

Maybe find out who he works for and call his employer and complain about him.

I few months ago as I walked in to Kmart an guy standing at the customer service counter asked me for my ID as I walked past. I laughed at him and said No thanks.
He then followed me from about 20 feet back all the while on the phone and staring me down.

As I left I confronted him. Turns out it was Paul Blart, loss prevention. He called the police to find out if it was OK for me to carry. I told him even if he was a uniformed officer(LOL) I would't show him my ID. I got his name and told him I was going to call the corporate office and complain about HIM. He said "are you going to tell them your carrying a gun" I said yes because its LEGAL. He apologize and I left. Got into my truck and called the corporate office which led to me talking with the store manager and a corporate customer service manager at the same time. At this time the cops drove into the parking lot and parked about 100 yards away, never talked me . It all got worked out and on another visit he gave a more heart-filled apology. He got a talking to.

Flip it around, complain about THEM, see how they like it.

Wow.. now that is something crazy... I dont know how I would feel dealing in ^^^ both of those situations. Its ashame how misinformed people are about OC'ing in North Carolina.

I'll be over that direction again tonight, so I'll see what I can find out about him and get ahold of his higher ups. In this case though, he was aware of the laws, he just didn't like them. Maybe his supervisor can give him an attitude adjustment though.

REALLY? They must have changed their rules. When I went (right after they opened) they said I had to unload before entry.
I don't go anymore anyways because they won't let me shoot my steel jacket ammo. I have a few thousand rounds of it I got it for 10 bucks a box versus nearly 20 at gun shops.

Yeah, I guess they changed their policy. The first time I used the range there I unloaded before entering, just because unfortunately most ranges have that policy. But I went ahead and asked a few of them, and they said they had no issue with it at all. Most of the guys that work there now are ex-military and don't have any problem with people carrying.

Unfortunately a lot of ranges I've been to are like that. Steel Jacketed rounds tend to be worse on indoor ranges, so few let you use them. But that is a decent price difference
