I read your post and saw that it is the way that the schools are going.

What should you do?

HOMESCHOOL!

If your wife works, have her quit her job and do the right thing for your son.

Your son does not want to go and you should not take him. Do not force him.

Children are very intuitive and you are absolutely hurting him by taking him there.

Forgive me, but the public school system is trying to brainwash our kids to be good little socialists/communists.

Obviously the school you are taking him to is no different.

Do the right thing for your child! You will not ever regret taking him out. Children are so much better being homeschooled. Just interact with him a lot!

He needs a good father who spends a lot of time with him.

Masad Ayoob has a really good book out about raising children with guns in your home. It is worthwhile getting!

Or HE could quit HIS job and do the right thing by his son. Welcome to the new millennium where we think of people as equals no matter their sex.
You will have your wife ruling your roost....

+1

I was homeschooled throughout my Primary and Secondary education and I, personally, feel that I am much better off for it.

Though I do have to point out that it is BOTH parent's responsibility to teach the child, not just the mother.... While my father WAS the "bread winner" in the family, he still taught me many things, especially Math and Computer Sciences. My mother educated me in most other subjects, and for the few that they could not teach me, we found private tutors to teach.

If you don't like the way the Public (or even Private) schools are teaching your children, step up and TAKE RESPONSIBILITY for your offspring, as you have for your family's safety!
Lildobe,

I responded to your note but am new to this posting stuff and posted without quoting you. Hopefully you can find it...

On the debate of homeschooling, for the love of god, please don't do it. It's not hard to see the difference between a homeschooled child, and those that went to public/private schools. They develop differently socially and many other aspects. There are things that kids will teach each other, that you don't condemn, but learned as a kid also. And whats wrong with hearing two sides of a argument?

For those who said public schools are trying to teach kids to be socialists/communists, wow I hope you don't teach any human being. The hypocracy (sp?) behind that statment is..... I can't even think of a word. Teaching a human one belief, and telling them, that all others (public schools) are wrong, is socialism. But giving them the freedom of listening to both sides of the story, then making their own decision, thats freedom. Teach your morals to your child when out of school, in the end they will most likely make the right decision.

And have you ever stopped to thought, that some of your teachings might be wrong?
I, babyglock, wrote what you replied to. I suggest you go have another 20 beers with Homer.

public schooling has destroyed the united states.

your child has about 95% chance of being a socialist loser no matter what you tell them

What we need is heroes like you to provide the proper role models.

I propose we hire off-duty police to teach classes. Academics can finally give way to a proper focus on teaching state-defined morality! Especially socialist (in "blue states") and Christianist (in "red states") moralities, because those are teh most l337 of all.

If you keep them in school, most likely.  Their brainwashing is quite effective.
Unfortunately all too many homeschooling parents don't seek to avoid brainwashing, they merely seek to mold it to their ends.

I'm not saying anything against homeschooling per se, but I can't imagine that children raised by the likes of Steve and BabyGlock will be very resistant to brainwashing.

At least they would be raised how their parents want them, and not how the .GOV says children should be raised. Send your kids to school, lose control over how your children are raised and the ideals you wish to pass down to them. If your ideals conflict with the .GOV, then you will be getting a visit from .GOV agents, cause it's all "for the children".

And making sure they grow up to be good little sheep!

Well, the thing is, I went to public school. While I have no shortage of faults with it, I was able to escape with my own views intact if not reinforced (by the experience if not so much the teaching per se.

Homeschool with the sole purpose of brainwashing children "how the parents want" is fine from a political perspective, but as individuals we should all feel lucky to have been raised differently.

What I'm saying is, public school sucks, and schooling shouldn't be mandatory, but none of that in any way justifies parents who use homeschooling to indoctrinate their children. On a merely individual scale, that's a lousy way to be raised.

You're right, maybe that was a little over the top. My apologies.

But understanding both sides of an issue hardly qualifies one (Aran in this case) as a "socialist Obamite", or even a plain "socialist".

Slightly off topic - but still guns at school.

What do they do at for track meets at schools now?

Don't they start each race with a starter's gun?

Just askin'

Yata hey

They still use them. Well, in some places.

My father is a science teacher at our local high school. Every year, he takes the class outside on the lawn, he does a demonstration testing the speed of sound using a starter's gun. Every year, he has to first call the local police department and inform them just in case a neighbor, pedestrian, or motorist sees him firing a pistol on the school's front lawn.

It's still used for track events as well. The only reason the sheep don't run for the hills at the site of the starter's pistol is because it's become common practice to use one, and they've grown accustomed to it.
