Open carried yesterday at the Walmart in Greenville. While in the customer service line to return something, I noticed an older gentleman OCing in a shoulder holster. I wanted to say hello but he was busy and I'm not the type to interrupt. Anyway, another store associate began assisting me during which time he left. Didn't see him again. Anyway, whoever you are, thanks for OCing!

OC'd over the weekend at The Subway in South Haven for dinner, then Ice cream at Sherman's Dairy Bar.

Strangely I didn't hear any screams and no rushing to get out of the place, at either establishment. All is well.

Open carried last Saturday morning at the Rockford outdoor farmer's market. No issues and I spotted another open carrier while there. Had lunch at Arnie's Bakery & Restaurant with the family. No issues.

Open carried to vote today. It was at a Township Hall. Then to Tractor Supply for Dog Food, Wendy's for Dinner and Meijer for minor supplies.

Got my sticker and put it on the holster before I left the Twp Hall. :)

Open carried at the Monday Night Car show, helped a guy win a $100 bet (his buddy said you had to have a license to open carry), voted in our twp hall, no issues anywhere...

OC'd while voting in the township hall Tuesday. Not only were there no issues but there was much joking and good natured banter between my friend that went with me to also vote (not carrying.... yet), myself, and the dedicated ladies working the polls. A very pleasant experience.... not to mention no one gave a hoot about my sidearm.

Thank you for your good work at the polls ladies!

Open carried in Clio yesterday at Hick's Outdoors, Wal Mart, and Taco Bell. No one cared about my sidearm anywhere but the fellow behind me in line at Taco Bell was surprised to find his lunch had already been paid for.

OC'd yesterday (and will also today as it is a 2 day class) as a helper and moral support for a friend who was taking his CPL class. Had to unload due to NRA's "no live ammo in the classroom" rule but still carried my empty sidearm openly.

During the range portion of the class the retired U.S. Marshal co-instructor decided to give his opinion about open carry calling it stupid and gave the tired old "you will get shot first" and "making yourself a target" myths.

I rose to the bait with two polite but firm statements in support of open carry that challenged his assertions before realizing that an open carry conversation at a concealed carry class would only be a distraction and a disservice to those folks who paid their money to learn about concealed carry and get their certificate so they could get their permit. I stopped responding to the retired U. S. Marshal but some of the students had questions about open carry that I answered off to the side.

Other than that the class itself is the best I've ever attended as a helper with plenty of different firearms available as examples and an added portion of learning to draw from a holster along with the other co-instructor being very informed, accomplished, very well trained in firearms, and an exceptionally personable lady. The fact that the instructor was female helped the two women students feel at ease in what is usually a testosterone filled environment. I am highly impressed with her credentials and her teaching abilities and am encouraged that she will be able to bring more women into concealed carry just because women relate to each other so well. I believe that it is wonderful that more ladies are getting into carrying and protecting themselves and their families.

Will be heading out for the second day of the class in a little more than an hour.

congratulations on the insight of continuing the conversation might derail some from their anointed mission.

another tactic to stop instructors from their path of providing misinformation is a quick question ~ sorry i got lost, could you show me where that is in the lesson plan so i might follow along? normally stops even the most ardent presenter from spewing further misinformation.

you should teach your own course...

Being a rabble–rouser is not necessarily a bad thing. To get people's attention and spur them to action can be most productive.

I am at times a rabble-rouser myself. :)

only in Texas then they send the rabble–rouser(s) to NC, at least according to the lad from Texas...

And yet one can disagree without being disrespectful. Perhaps one day you will learn that. Then again, perhaps not and you shall remain banished for whatever time you have left.

That quote is misattributed as Solus did not originally make it - he was quoting another, a member from Texas......and it was said in jest.

Yet w/o having any of the info correct, you go on the attack. You are to be cautioned - several rules were broken by your post.

Day two of the concealed carry course is over and my friend has his certificate. Next on the list is filling out the CPL application and turning it in.

Some highlights of the day:

The rain waited until the range time was finished.

I lent my extra noise canceling ear muffs to a couple of people who didn't know such a thing existed and increased the sales of those by 2.

During a break I helped a couple of students with situational awareness by pointing out the shadow on the door showed that a person was out of sight beyond the door but their shadow gave them away. I mentioned reflections in windows can be used to see who is around/behind you also.

I kept my mouth shut when the topic came around to open carry again and the U.S. Marshal apologized for his comments yesterday. He again said he wasn't a fan of it but let it go.

Everyone passed the test.

When I took a Utah class, the instructor, an anti OC guy, (I was OC in the class).
Asked the class, What does OC make you to a bad guy?
He waited for the class to answer, while I planned my attack!
Just in time,,, I loudly amswered,,,,, A Deterrent!
He stopped,,, didnt wait for anymore answers.....

Had a number of positive comments last week: 2 customers at secretary of state and a customer + the cashier at Kroger the following day. Today I saw a unicorn a block or two from my house OC'ing a 1911 cross draw while doing yard work.
