Hello, everyone. I have been reading the OH forum, and called Lebanon PD yesterday to ask if OC was legal in the city limits (knowing full well it was in the State). The first person I spoke with was a woman who transferred to to an officer, but I did not write his name. I asked the very same question, and his response (without a pause) was, "What do you mean by open carry?" I told him, "To carry a firearm on my person, in a holster, in plain sight." He then asked, "Just walking down the street?"
"Okay."
He said that yes, it was legal to OC in the entire state. He then continued that I would probably be stopped and questioned if/when an officer saw me.
I then asked if someone complained, would I be arrested to inciting a riot, etc. He said that was up to the individual officer.
Since I was only calling for info, I did not want to start a debate. So, I then asked if I was OC in my condo complex and someone complained would I have problems since it is private property of a group nature, and he told me that would not be a problem with the PD. I thanked him and hung-up.
At least one officer in town knows the rights of OC. :banghead:
